Dark cherry, blackberry and anise carry through to a soft, vibrant finish balanced by ripe tannins. Notable sweetness helps balance out the 35% new oak and buffers the wine's tannin load, resulting in a very big wine with forgivingly soft texture.

Wine Enthusiast, 90 Points — Lavish and full-bodied, the red blend from Prisoner delivers ripe mixed fruits, crushed chocolate blended with dried caramel, vanilla bean, and a light pour of espresso. Succulent tannins and layers of spice make for a forward, crowd pleasing wine.

These reviews appeared on the existing listing without a vintage attribution; their scores are not verified for the 2023 bottle.

At a glance

Producer: The Prisoner Wine Company

Vintage: 2023

Style: California red blend

Size: 750ml

A richly styled red blend with a distinctive California point of view.
