Frasca La Guaragna Nizza 2020 750ml
Winemaker Description
Barbera, along with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, is widely planted throughout Piemonte. Many Barolo and Barbaresco producers will also make a Barbera mainly because the aging requirement is far shorter allowing them to see a profit from the harvest earlier. In the commune of Nizza, the Barbera grape steps into the spotlight and takes center stage. This is where Barbera reaches its heights of glory.
The Frasca family has 22 hectares of vineyard in Nizza, with vines averaging 30 years of age. Their 2020 Barbera Nizza DOCG opens with an inviting bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, intertwined with notes of violet, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, showcasing intense flavors of ripe black fruits, licorice, and a touch of dark chocolate, balanced by firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and complex, with lingering hints of fruit, spice, and subtle oak nuances.

Francesco Rinaldi & Figli Barolo Cannubi RISERVA 2016 750ml
Winemaker Description
Francesco Rinaldi’s estate was first founded back in 1870, when he inherited a plot of land and vineyard house in the heart of Barolo. Though Francesco’s family wasn’t new to the winemaking game-- his cousin, Giuseppe RInaldi, was also producing great Piemontese reds that were completely shaking up the scene. Today, F. Rinaldi wines are produced only from organic fruit and are some of the best deals coming out of the region’s top growing sites.
Expert Review - Vintage 2016
Wine Advocate 97 Points | The Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2016 Barolo Riserva Cannubi is a classic beauty with thin, delicate lines that frame a core of profound and very elegant fruit. You can attribute many descriptors to the bouquet, from wild berry, pressed rose, earth, rust, crushed rock and light spice. But no one aroma out-powers the next, and together they work in careful harmony. It's also important to point out the quality of the tannins in this Riserva, which remain elegant and firm. This bottle is a great candidate for long cellar aging. 97+ (ML) (8/2022).
Eduardo Torres Acosta IGT Terre Siciliane Rosso "Quota N” (Pre-Sale) 2024 750ml
High-altitude, volcanic red that captures the wild beauty of Mt. Etna’s northern slopes. Made primarily from Nerello Mascalese and other native Sicilian varieties, this wine is lifted and aromatic, with notes of red berries, herbs, crushed stone, and spice. Elegant yet energetic, "Quota N" reflects Eduardo’s low-intervention style and deep respect for Etna’s terroir. A pure and soulful expression of Sicilian winemaking.
Eduardo acquired this flat, half-hectare parcel of ungrafted, 80 to 100 year-old, co-planted bush vines. The vines are a a field blend of of red and white grapes.
It is surrounded by stone walls at the high elevation of 1070 meters in the contrada. The parcel is named Germana for its historical family owner.Eduardo was not allowed to use this name and was also not permiited to use the Nave contrada name, because the site is too high to fall within DOC Etna Rosso rules.

The Wine Spectator 90 Points | A juicy snap of plum skin acidity animates flavors of plumped cherry, mulberry and dried marjoram, with minerally earth and iron accents. An elegant version, with good expression through the lightly chewy finish.
Cusumano SAGANA Tenuta San Giacomo Nero d'Avola Sicilia 2019 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2019
Decanter 93 Points | This single-vineyard Nero d'Avola, from Cusumano's Tenuta San Giacomo estate located on the limestone outcrop of Butera in southern Sicily, is a big wine. It hits 15% alcohol and is aged for 18 months in large casks, yet there is freshness and great mid-palate tension, allied to structural tannins. Aromatic black cherry aromas and flavours accompany intense dark chocolate, spices and herbs.
Danielle Callegari of the WIne Enthusiast writes 88 Points | Hot chili peppers burst off the nose of this Nero d'Avola, lifted by wood smoke, macerated blackberries and bitter chocolate. Spiciness carries over to the palate, with notes of black pepper and tomato-pepper jam, but also more berries and some tobacco leaf. Tannins are firm but polished.
Cigliuti Langhe Nebbiolo 2024 750ml
Cigliuti · Langhe Nebbiolo · 2024
From the Cigliuti family’s vineyards in Serraboella and Bricco di Neive, this Langhe Nebbiolo brings the character of the family’s Piedmont holdings into a fresh, approachable bottle. Renato Cigliuti began prioritizing quality over quantity in the 1960s, when green harvesting was still unusual among his neighbors. His daughters Claudia and Silvia now run the winery, with Renato and Dina still involved.
The 2024 is bright and floral, with red fruit, a lively palate and fine tannins. Give it a little time in the glass to let its cherry and spice notes unfold. It makes a lovely companion to mushroom dishes, roast poultry or a simple plate of pasta.
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2024
From younger vines in Serraboella and Bricco di Neive, the 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo pours a bright medium ruby and reflects the cooler nature of the vintage. Fermented in stainless steel and aged five months in stainless steel followed by five months in 2,500-liter Slavonian oak casks, it opens with pomegranate, fresh flowers, tangerine, and dried earth. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, light on its feet, and refreshing without austerity, with fine tannins and a lifted floral tone that lingers through the finish.
Jeb Dunnuck · 91 points
The 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo is a fine entry-level offering from Cigliuti. Aromatic, vibrant and medium in body, the 2024 is super-classic in feel. Crushed rose petal, red-toned fruit, chalk and mint lend notable high-toned brightness. Youthful tannins extend the mid-palate and finish. This is essentially a mini-Barbaresco.

Cantine Florio DRY Fine Marsala 375ml
Cantine Florio Dry Fine Marsala Superiore — Sicily, Italy (375ml)
Cantine Florio is the most storied name in Marsala — founded in 1833 in the port city of Marsala on Sicily's western coast, and the producer that helped define the category for the world. Bordiga Vermouth di Torino Bianco Extra Dry 750ml
Bordiga · Vermouth di Torino Bianco Extra Dry · Italy · 750ml
Bordiga Vermouth di Torino Bianco Extra Dry combines Piedmontese white wines with a wide range of botanicals, many from the nearby Occitan Alps. Complex and vivid, it emphasizes the interplay of its ingredients rather than the dominance of a single botanical.
Producer & Craft
Bordiga follows artisanal and traditional processes, reproducing and refining historical recipes while developing new ones in keeping with the distillery’s philosophy. Its recipes draw on the studies of Cavalier Pietro Bordiga, preserved in the Book of Ancient Recipes, and the knowledge passed down through generations of master distillers.
Many botanicals used by the distillery are hand-picked in Italy’s Occitan valleys for their essential oils. Here, mountain air meets Mediterranean influences, giving the plants distinctive characteristics. On arrival, the botanicals are checked by the master distillers against the distillery’s quality standards.
Although Bordiga has expanded its production capacity and introduced new technology, its team remains committed to carefully selected raw materials and authentic artisan production. Piedmontese wine, hand-picked Alpine medicinal herbs, alcohol and sugar form the foundation of its vermouth-making tradition.
Style & Flavor
This extra-dry white vermouth offers a complex, vivid botanical profile built around a Piedmontese white-wine base. Its appeal lies in the balance and interaction of the botanical components, making it versatile for both aperitif service and cocktails.
Producer Description
Bordiga
This classic vermouth is based on Piedmontese white wines and infused with a wide range of different botanicals, many of them grown in the Occitan Alps near the winery. The Bordiga Extra Dry is perfect on the rocks, delicious with some tonic water, and a great ingredient in all vermouth-based cocktails.

Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Greppo Riserva 2015 750ml
Expert Reviews
98+ Points Robert Parker | The Biondi-Santi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is initially a reticent wine and one that does not immediately subscribe to the overstated abundance and exuberance of the vintage. Give it time. I wrote this review after several tastings over several days so I could ensure a more accurate account of the wine's elegant reveal. Contemplative and exceedingly nuanced in personality, with wild berry, underbrush, ferrous earth and candied orange peel, this has everything to look forward to in terms of its future evolution in the bottle. It displays a pretty ruby color that borders on garnet and polished copper. A silky, mid-weight palate is accented by beautifully managed and silky tannins (this aspect of the mouthfeel is extraordinary), bright freshness and long-lasting fruit momentum. The alcohol is a bit more powerful in this release (at 14.5%), but the effect is supple and smooth nonetheless. I tasted bottle number 256.
James Suckling 97 Points | Complex yet pure, subtle and refined nose that gently evolves, with mossy red cherries, dried roses, chalk, tar and dried orange peel. There is a lift of clove and eucalyptus that makes it so distinctive. A powerful, medium-to full-bodied Brunello, but seamless and bright, with a fine, transparent mid-palate and restrained, mineral austerity. Understated complexity that will need time to bloom. Hold until 2026.
Vinous 97 Points | The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva pulls you close to the glass with a deep and seductive display of black raspberry preserves complemented by sweet sage, dried roses and pipe tobacco. With further coaxing, it gains in volume and lift, taking on hints of mint and camphor. This greets the palate with undeniable elegance, casting velvety waves of violet-tinged wild berries and sweet spices across a motivating core of juicy acidity, as a subtle coating of round tannins forms toward the close. While structured and incredibly long, energy remains high, as nuances of cherry pits offset by sour citrus and hints of cedar fade. It’s amazing to experience such energy and purity from a young Biondi Santi Riserva. As pretty as the Annata released last year was, I worried that the extended aging for the Riserva might rob the wine of some of its fruit; instead it is the complete opposite, as this contains the depth and complexity of the best wines of the vintage. I can’t wait to see how the 2015 matures over the next several decades. -- Eric Guido
Wine Enthusiast 97 Points | New leather, pressed rose and mature berry aromas slowly appear in the glass along with whiffs of underbrush and pipe tobacco. On the structured, elegant palate, firm but ultrarefined tannins provide the backbone for juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and cake spice. While it promises decades of evolution, it's already rewarding and almost at the start of its long drinking window. Drink 2025–2045. Kerin O’Keefe
Wine Spectator 96 Points | Round and fruity, with an accent of white pepper against cherry, raspberry and floral flavors. Elegant and verging on racy, with a firm, well-integrated structure and excellent length on the minerally finish. Best from 2025 through 2048. — B.S.

Our Professional Review
Bart Hopkins of 67wino.shop writes | Made from 50 year old organic and Biodynamically grown Nero d’Avola vines, the 2020 Contrada is a beautifully crafted, totally natural Sicilian red wine. The bouquet is deep and rich with earthy plum and dark berry and licorice aromas that mingle playfully with notes of exotic spices. James Suckling 93 Points | Manzoni bianco is a super fresh grape variety, a valuable resource in view of the rising temperatures in this era of climate change. Aromas of pears, white peaches, lime peel and lemon leaves. It’s soft on the palate, with a silky texture, sharp acidity, peach flavors and a polished finish in spite of its citrus peel aftertaste.
Antinori Solaia Toscana 2021 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2021
Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 100 Points | 2021 Solaia is another wine that captures all of the potential I sensed when I tasted it some months ago. More than anything else the 2021 is a fine example of the style Antinori favors these days an approach that favors finesse more than opulence. Dark plum mocha licorice chocolate spice lavender and menthol build effortlessly in the glass. Oak and tannin are impeccably balanced. The 2021 spent 18 months in wood three months in once-used barrels during the malolactic fermentation and then 15 months in 100% new barrels for the rest of its aging.
The Wine Spectator 98 Points | A deep, dense red, drenched with blackberry, pomegranate, plum and sweet spice flavors. Iron, tobacco and wild herb elements peek through as this plays out on the finish under a strong grip of tannins. Shows terrific balance and length now, yet this should only improve after a few more years in the bottle. Superb. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2027 through 2047.
Decanter 97 Points | For me [2021 is] one of the best vintages ever,’ says Renzo Cotarella, Antinori's CEO and head winemaker, of the widely lauded vintage in Tuscany, explaining to me that it shares characteristics with 1997 and 2007, with a cool, frosty start slowing down vegetative growth and helping to extend the growing season, aided by milder temperatures later in the summer which enabled the grapes to build concentration while preserving freshness. Recent vintages of Solaia have benefitted from an increased use of Cabernet Franc, which stands at 9% in 2021. Due to be launched this autumn, Solaia 2021 is still a baby but its potential is immediately apparent. Inky and concentrated, with a dark chocolate barrique signature on the nose, it combines salinity with bountiful and sapid fruits, offering ripe black and red cherries, and dark hedgerow berries alongside herbal freshness, and finely textured tannins. Ferrous, meaty and earthy undertones emerge after some time in the glass, providing a counterpoint to the inherent sweetness of the fruit. Muscular yet wonderfully poised, this will only reveal all its complexities after significant ageing.
The Wine Advocate 97 Points | All said and done, the Marchesi Antinori 2021 Solaia is a monument to perfect winemaking. This coiffed supermodel does not show a single hair follicle out of place. However, it doesn't quite have the same sex appeal of the Tignanello. In my conversations with Estate Manager Renzo Cotarella during this tasting, it was expressed this way: "Tignanello is unexpected. Solaia is expected." Whereas Tignanello is a wine of vertical lift and energy, Solaia is a wine of lasting power. The wine offers generous depth and layering with soft tannins and some of the spicy pink peppercorn you get from the 9% Cabernet Franc (added to 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Sangiovese). The finish is extremely velvety and soft, but I notice that the flavors seem to become sweeter and riper the longer this wine stays in the glass. This newest release will hit the market in September.
James Suckling 97 Points | This is a beautifully curated Solaia with blackcurrants and raspberries plus lavender and violet undertones. Graphite highlights it all. Just some new wood coming through. It’s full-bodied with fine velvety tannins that run the length of the wine, caressing the palate. Give this three or four years to come around.
Allegrini AMARONE della Valpolicella Classico 2021 750ml
Allegrini · Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG · Veneto · Italy · 2021
Allegrini is one of the Valpolicella Classico’s most celebrated families — a benchmark producer whose Amarone has become emblematic of Italian oenology, standing alongside Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino as one of the country’s great red wines. The 2021 is a true classic of the appellation: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes air-dried until at least December, checked daily for perfect health, then vinified with the patience and precision that only a family with generations of expertise can bring. Lengthy refining and aging yields a wine of imposing structure, depth, and the kind of complexity that rewards both the cellar and the table. Rated 94 by James Suckling and 93 by Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Spectator.
The 2021 is still very youthful but with enormous potential. The nose is intense and classic — bay leaves, fresh black pepper, prunes, blood orange, tamarind, licorice, and plums simmering with herbs. On the palate, creamy and full-bodied with roasted peppercorn, crushed black cherry, espresso, thyme, and cocoa, framed by firm, velvety, fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. Long, fresh, and elegant on the finish with graphite and spice. Drink now through 2040.
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2021
“Still very youthful, but with so much potential. Intense and zippy on the attack, there’s some wonderfully bright fruit fighting to break through the woody veil, with an orange peel halo. Beautifully balanced — but don’t open this yet!”
— Decanter · 93 Points
“This is what happens when earth meets elegance. Forest walks lead to a kitchen where plums simmer with herbs for wild game while cocoa adds its luxury touch. The palate keeps that old-school Amarone soul but adds modern polish, dusty tannins framing everything just right.”
— Wine Enthusiast · 93 Points · Cellar Selection
“Sleek and well-structured, offering flavors of crushed black cherry and black plum, black licorice, espresso, and thyme, all enmeshed with sculpted, fine-grained tannins. Long and fresh, with delicate notes of spices and graphite playing on the finish.”

Juicy dark fruit, gentle tannins and a savory finish give this dry, medium-bodied wine an approachable balance of depth and freshness.
The Producer & Vineyard
Fourth-generation winemaker Guido Porro works in Serralunga d'Alba, in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Traditional production and minimal intervention preserve the wine's Piedmontese identity. Sustainable farming and the vineyard's favorable growing conditions underpin a Dolcetto suited to everyday meals as well as a generous Italian dinner.

Kerin O'Keefe, 95 Points · 2020: The 2020 Vigna Santa Caterina has enticing aromas of rose, violet and vineyard dust while the juicy, delicious palate boasts great red berry fruit, star anise and baking spice. Chalky, chewy tannins provide polished support.
Jeb Dunnuck, 94 Points · 2020: The medium ruby-colored 2020 Barolo V.S. Caterina is forward with aromas of toasted spices, cedar, raspberries, smoke, and wild herbs. I really enjoy the freshness of these wines, which offer ripe acidity balanced with elegant concentration of fruit. A medium-framed wine, it has good length and a refreshing and approachable feel, with notes of apricot on the finish and only a touch of warmth. Very nicely done, this wine can be enjoyed now through 2036

Guido Porro Barolo "Vigna Lazzairasco" 2021 750ml
Guido Porro · Barolo DOCG · Vigna Lazzairasco · 2021
Guido Porro Barolo “Vigna Lazzairasco” 2021 is a traditionally crafted Nebbiolo from the Lazzarito cru in Serralunga d'Alba. Ripe red cherry, raspberry and rose-petal aromas mingle with orange peel, licorice, mint, crushed stone and earthy spice. Layers of red fruit, blood orange and savory herbs unfold over vibrant acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins, carrying a long finish with freshness and depth.
The Producer & Vineyard
Fourth-generation winemaker Guido Porro emphasizes the character of the vineyard through traditional methods. Vigna Lazzairasco, described in the Jeb Dunnuck review as the estate's oldest vineyard, lies on clay and limestone soils within Serralunga d'Alba's Lazzarito cru. The site produces wines prized for concentration, complexity and cellaring potential.
Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine undergoes extended maceration before aging for three years in large Slavonian oak barrels. This approach preserves fruit purity while developing the layered character of classic Barolo. The 2021 combines substantial structure with balance and aromatic refinement.
Expert Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck, 94 Points · 2021: A transparent medium ruby hue, the 2021 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco comes from the estate’s oldest vineyard. Aromas of preserved cranberries, cherries, orange peel, mint, and crushed stones lead the profile. Medium-bodied, it floats across the palate with silky texture and saline sapidity, supported by balanced acidity and subtle cocoa notes. The fruit remains supple and fresh with good persistence and depth.
Vinous, 94 Points · 2021: The 2021 Barolo V. Lazzairasco is redolent of sweet red cherry, chalk, mint, white pepper and blood orange. Brisk acids and beams of supporting tannin give the 2021 its shape and taut, savory profile. Iron, graphite, scorched earth and incense develop later, adding further layers of nuance. I would prefer to cellar this for a few years.
Additional Review Summaries
Kerin O'Keefe, 97 Points · 2021 · Summary: Praises the wine's precision, aromas of roses and woodland berries, concentrated red fruit, and firm, finely textured tannins. Recommended drinking window: 2031-2046.
Decanter, 96 Points · 2021 · Summary: Highlights its dark red berry character, savory herbal complexity, firm but well-integrated tannins, and excellent aging potential.
Pairing & Serving
Pair with braised beef, roasted lamb, wild game, porcini mushrooms, truffle risotto or aged Parmigiano Reggiano. For near-term enjoyment, consider decanting and serving slightly below room temperature. Expert Reviews
Kerin O'Keefe, KerinOKeefe.com, 99 Points · 2021: "Guido Porro nailed the 2021 vintage as all the firm's Barolos demonstrate, especially the compelling Vigna Rionda. Still youthfully austere with racy tension, the structured, elegant palate delivers red cherry, strawberry compote, nutmeg and licorice set against a backbone of close-grained, velvety tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced and energized. An incredible showing. Drink 2036-2051. Abv: 15%"
Michaela Morris, Decanter, 98 Points · 2021: "Upon inheriting 0.8ha in Vignarionda in 2011, the estate replanted the vineyard with a massal selection from their oldest plot in Lazzarito. Despite the young age of vines, this exhibits extraordinary profundity, character and breed. It unfurls slowly with heady florals, toasted hazelnut and smoky incense. The palate is still tightly knit around a matrix of sweet, rich berries, tangy pomegranate, violet and chestnut. Long, silky tannins are seamlessly integrated but not ready to yield their commanding grip. Piercing and persistent in length. Soulfully satisfying, this is among the top wines of the vintage."
Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 97 Points · 2021: "The 2021 Barolo Vignarionda is a total knockout. Crushed rose petal, kirsch, mint, blood orange, sweet spice and candy are all beautifully lifted. This is the first Porro Rionda that captures the haunting inner perfume, the sweetness, the finesse that are all at the heart of what makes Rionda one of the very top sites in Barolo. Readers will find a wine of beguiling complexity and class."
Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com, 96 Points · 2021: "Pouring a jeweled ruby hue, the 2021 Barolo Vignarionda is the most layered wine in the lineup. Aromas of wild raspberries, licorice, alpine herbs, and dark stones emerge from the glass. Medium-bodied but expansive on the palate, it brings forward mouthwatering energy with bright acidity and ripe tannins. Sweet citrus and mineral notes carry through the long finish. Drink 2026-2046."
Pairing & Serving
Pair with braised beef, roasted lamb, wild game, porcini mushrooms, truffle risotto or aged cheeses. For near-term enjoyment, consider decanting and serving slightly below room temperature. The critics offer different drinking windows: Audrey Frick suggests 2026–2046, while Kerin O'Keefe recommends 2036–2051.

The wine comes from the Contrada Alboretto vineyard in the Chiuse del Signore district near Linguaglossa, approximately 650 meters above sea level. Mineral-rich volcanic soils, cooling mountain breezes and significant temperature variations encourage freshness, aromatic intensity and structural elegance. The vines average approximately 20 years of age and include two small parcels of ancient vines.
Winemaking & Vintage
Made exclusively from 100% Nerello Mascalese, the wine begins with carefully hand-harvested and selected grapes. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 18–22°C, with 12–15 days of maceration, followed by natural malolactic fermentation. Maturation continues for six months in stainless steel and another 24 months in large 20-hectoliter oak barrels, developing depth and refinement while preserving vibrant fruit and mineral character.
The 2022 growing season brought early summer heat and drought, followed by favorable late-season conditions that allowed excellent maturity and balanced phenolic development. The resulting wine combines ripe fruit concentration with Etna’s characteristic freshness, fine tannins and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red with delicate garnet reflections, the wine opens with ripe cherries, wild raspberries, pomegranate and red berries. Blood orange, Mediterranean herbs, black pepper, graphite and smoky volcanic stone add aromatic complexity.
Medium-bodied and harmonious, the palate layers concentrated red fruit with savory herbs, delicate spice and pronounced mineral nuances. Vibrant acidity and firm yet velvety tannins bring precision and balance, leading to a long finish of crushed stone, citrus and subtle volcanic smokiness. Elena Walch Kastelaz Gewürztraminer Alto Adige 2025 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Elena Walch Vigna Kastelaz Gewürztraminer Alto Adige 2025 is an exceptional single-vineyard white wine from one of Italy's most celebrated estates. Considered an international benchmark for Gewürztraminer, this iconic wine has helped earn Elena Walch the title "Queen of Gewürztraminer," reflecting her pioneering contribution to the reputation of Alto Adige's finest white wines.
The wine originates from the prestigious Vigna Kastelaz vineyard, dramatically situated above the historic wine village of Tramin, widely regarded as the birthplace of Gewürztraminer. This extraordinary south-facing vineyard, with slopes exceeding 63%, is cultivated on narrow terraces where low yields, meticulous hand harvesting, and exceptional growing conditions produce grapes of remarkable concentration and character.
The vineyard's distinctive limestone-rich soils, interspersed with sand and rocky deposits, combine with warm Mediterranean sunshine and cooling alpine breezes to create wines of aromatic intensity, freshness, and elegance.
Tasting Notes
The Gewürztraminer Vigna Kastelaz displays a rich, brilliant golden-yellow color and an enchanting, complex bouquet of fragrant rose petals, exotic lychee, delicate acacia honey, and subtle mineral nuances.
On the palate, the wine is expressive and beautifully structured, combining aromatic richness with stimulating acidity and harmonious spicy freshness. Layers of floral and exotic fruit character unfold gracefully, leading to a delicate, juicy, and lingering finish.
Despite its aromatic intensity, this Gewürztraminer maintains remarkable finesse, freshness, and balance, making it a sophisticated expression of one of Alto Adige's most distinctive grape varieties.
Winemaking & Vineyard
The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand from the steep, south-facing terraces of Vigna Kastelaz. The fully ripe fruit is picked in two passes to achieve optimal maturity and aromatic complexity.
Following approximately six hours of cold skin contact, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and natural clarification. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at approximately 18°C (64°F), followed by several months of maturation on fine lees to develop texture, complexity, and harmony.
Food Pairing
An outstanding companion to lobster, crab, shrimp, and other shellfish, as well as aromatic Asian cuisine, Thai dishes, and flavorful cheeses, particularly blue cheese. Its floral complexity and elegant structure also make it a memorable wine for special occasions.
An iconic single-vineyard Gewürztraminer that beautifully captures the character of Alto Adige, combining aromatic richness, alpine freshness, and extraordinary finesse.
Col d'Orcia Brunello di Montalcino Organic 2020 750ml
Col d’Orcia · Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020
One of Montalcino’s original estates, Col d’Orcia is known for a traditional approach that lets Sangiovese lead. The estate’s limestone and marl vineyards sit about 1,500 feet above sea level between the Orcia River and Sant’Angelo in Colle. In 2020, a frost-free winter and dry spring were followed by summer rain that supported ripening; the Consorzio del Brunello and a panel of Masters of Wine rated the vintage five stars.
The hand-harvested grapes fermented for 18–20 days in temperature-controlled, shallow stainless-steel tanks. The wine aged three years in large Slavonian and Allier oak casks, then a year in bottle. Expect ripe cherry and sour cherry, hints of jam, vanilla and light toast, balanced tannins, and a savory, persistent finish.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate · 94 points · 2020: The organic Col d'Orcia 2020 Brunello di Montalcino offers a classic Sangiovese bouquet with warm-vintage intensity. It shows sweet aromas of raspberry tart and cooked cherry. There is a delicate element of smoked spice at the back. The tannins are open-knit, and the wine offers immediate drinking pleasure. It should be exciting to follow this wine's future evolution. “We try to protect the freshness of Sangiovese,” says Count Francesco Marone Cinzano. “That is our reading of traditional Brunello.”
Decanter · 93 points · 2020: Among Montalcino’s larger estates, Col d’Orcia is also one of the region’s most consistent values – especially given its solid ageing potential in most vintages. The 2020 is no exception. There is a captivating sumptuousness to the nose as it radiates lush red cherries and strawberry bush. With air, an underlying flintiness emerges, as well as a mix of sweet garden and exotic herbs. A surprisingly hefty structure of dry, sandy tannins curbs its generosity, while leather and orange lurk through the stony core. Somewhat muddled now, but harmony is within sight.
Jeb Dunnuck · 93 points · 2020: A saturated red color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino was aged three years in barrel and captures the richness of the southern sector while staying pure and energetic. It offers ripe aromatics of black cherries, dried herbs, leather, and dark earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has ripe tannins, bright acidity, and a savory finish with a touch of warmth.
James Suckling · 93 points · 2020: A fresh and refined red with plum and orange character, as well as fine tannins. It’s medium-bodied, lively and focused. A little tight at the end, suggesting two or three years will allow it to open. A more traditional Brunello here. Drink after 2027.
Vinous · 92 points · 2020: The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino opens slowly with a blend of black cherry and minty herb scents elevated by hints of blood orange. It displays silky textures and a lifted feel, with tart wild berry fruit aromas and mineral tones accentuated by rosy inner florals. The 2020 imparts edgy tannins offset by a tinge of zesty acidity.
Wine Spectator · 92 points · 2020: Balsamic notes of tomato leaf, juniper and thyme rub shoulders with strawberry, cherry, blood orange and earth in this dry, elegant red. Ends firmly, with lightly chewy tannins and a mouthwatering feel. Best from 2027 through 2042.
