Nonino AMARO Quintessentia 750ml
Nonino AMARO Quintessentia 750ml
Producer Description
Born in Friuli — a borderland and crossroads of Roman, Arabian, Celtic, Venetian, and Slavic influences — Amaro Nonino Quintessentia® is the result of the Nonino family's alchemic art, enriched by centuries of cultural exchange and a deep knowledge of botanical varieties from near and far.
The name Quintessentia® was chosen to celebrate the alchemic achievement of the purest essence, passed down through generations of family recipe. The Bowl of Hygeia at the center of the label honors the origin of amaro — historically born as a medicinal remedy.
Expert Review
Wine Enthusiast 96 Points — Tawny and bright in the glass, this mellow, bittersweet beauty offers caramel and vanilla, braced by allspice and bitter orange. Although Nonino is best known for its grappas, this amaro — flavored with herbs from the mountains of Friuli — is worth seeking out. Consider it for dessert pairings or an edgy spin on a Negroni.

Nonino Amaro Quintessentia Riserva 70 Proof 750ml
Producer Description
In memory of grandfather Antonio we celebrate the Return to the Origins with Amaro Nonino Quintessentia by creating a RISERVA which boasts more than 24 months of natural ageing in oak barriques and small casks.
Antonio Nonino, third generation of the family of Distillers, used to keep Amaro Carnia in small wooden casks. Steel was prohibitive. The infusion in contact with wood evolved and was enriched with new notes and new aromas.
Although there is no clear regulation on the aging of liqueurs, in respect of the philosophy that has always accompanied us, aging takes place in a dedicated cellar, under seal and permanent surveillance by the Customs and Monopoly Office: the result is extraordinary!
With great softness, the citrous notes are lessened and it gains great elegance declined in different and enveloping notes. At the beginning autumnal brushwood and moss fragrances that leave way to scents of raisins and passito. Balsamic scents that balance the bitter notes of rhubarb, scent of flamed orange and caramelized vanilla, great persistence and intensity.

Cappelletti Amaro Alta Verde 750ml
Cappelletti · Amaro Alta Verde · Trentino-Alto Adige · Italy
Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti was founded in 1909 in the historic Piazza Fiera in the center of Trento — a firm rooted from the very beginning in the tradition of herbs, roots, and flowers of the Alpine foothills. Today, four generations later, Luigi and Maddalena Cappelletti continue all production in-house from their home in Aldeno, 20 km south of Trento, surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards. Alta Verde is their traditional wormwood amaro: a style that was once common throughout the Adriatic but has become increasingly rare over the last half century. This is the real thing — uncompromising, botanical, and built for those who take their bitters seriously.
The principal ingredient is assenzio — a variety of wormwood — framed and lightened by a complementary blend of alpine herbs, citrus, and spice. The result is a deeply bitter, aromatic amaro with a drying finish and genuine complexity. Best enjoyed with citrus and tonic or soda, over ice with a big squeeze of lemon, or in cocktails where Alta Verde adds depth and a drying effect to balance sweeter drinks.
- Producer: Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti (Luigi & Maddalena Cappelletti), Aldeno, Trentino, Italy
- Founded: 1909 — fourth generation family production
- Style: Traditional wormwood amaro (Adriatic style)
- Principal Botanical: Assenzio (wormwood)
- Additional Botanicals: Alpine herbs, citrus, spice
- Size: 750ml
- Tasting Notes: Deep wormwood bitterness, alpine herbs, citrus, spice, long drying finish
- Serve: Over ice with lemon & tonic/soda · Neat over ice with a squeeze of lemon · Cocktails (adds depth and dryness)
Trentino-Alto Adige — a true and traditional wormwood amaro from one of Italy’s oldest herbal liqueur families. Rare, uncompromising, and built for the serious amaro drinker.

Lo-Fi Aperitifs Gentian Amaro — Napa County, California, 750ml
Lo-Fi Aperitifs is one of California's most thoughtful producers of aperitivo-style spirits, crafting small-batch vermouths and amaros from a wine-country perspective. Their Gentian Amaro is built around the classic bitter root of the Alps — gentian — balanced with cinchona bark, sweet citrus, ginger, exotic flowers, and warm spices. The result is a distinctly Californian take on the amaro tradition: bright, aromatic, and refreshingly bitter without being harsh. At $24.99 for 750ml, it is one of the best-value amaros on the market.
The nose is inviting and complex: sweet citrus peel, fresh ginger, dried flowers, and a whisper of exotic spice, all underpinned by the earthy, herbal depth of gentian and cinchona bark. On the palate, it is clean and lively — ripe citrus fruit up front, then a wave of crisp, structured bitterness that lingers cleanly through the finish. Versatile enough to sip over ice, elegant enough to elevate a cocktail, and a natural partner for sparkling wine and aged spirits.
