Domaine Clos de la Chapelle Meursault Cuvée Confluence 2023 750ml (Offer)
92 Points - Wine Spectator
89-91 Points - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
Two vineyards. Two soils. One seamless expression of Meursault. Domaine Clos de la Chapelle's 2023 Cuvee Confluence draws from En Marcausse and Les Vignes Blanches, contiguous lieux-dits whose contrasting geology gives this village-level Chardonnay a complexity that rivals many a Premier Cru. Clay-driven richness meets limestone-driven tension, and the result is a white Burgundy of genuine depth, harmony and length.
The Place
Meursault occupies the heart of the Cote de Beaune, flanked by Volnay to the north and Puligny-Montrachet to the south. It is one of Burgundy's most celebrated white-wine villages, internationally recognized for Chardonnay that combines generous orchard fruit, hazelnut complexity and a pronounced limestone-derived mineral character with vibrant, food-friendly acidity.
Although Meursault has no Grand Cru vineyards, its finest Premier Cru and village-level climats produce some of Burgundy's most distinctive and age-worthy whites. The appellation encompasses approximately 382.64 hectares of white-wine production, including 103.79 hectares of Premier Cru, planted predominantly to Chardonnay in a complex mosaic of limestone, marl, clay and gravel.
The Meaning of Cuvee Confluence
The name Confluence speaks to a meeting of opposites: old vines and young, two adjoining vineyards, two distinct but complementary terroirs. Although En Marcausse and Les Vignes Blanches share a boundary, the soil composition shifts noticeably at the point where one vineyard meets the other, and it is precisely this contrast that defines the wine.
The Vineyards
En Marcausse lies immediately below Les Petits Charrons on the Meursault slope. Natural drainage is encouraged by a break in the topography, while the vineyard's higher clay content contributes body, texture and breadth to the finished wine. The domaine farms approximately 0.20 hectare here.
Les Vignes Blanches takes its name from the pale, gravelly limestone that characterizes the site. These chalkier soils deliver greater mineral tension, freshness and precision. The domaine holds approximately 0.41 hectare, farmed from both younger and older vines. For the 2023 vintage, Jasper Morris noted that a section previously planted to Pinot Noir has been top-grafted to Chardonnay, a change that will further strengthen the domaine's white-wine holdings from 2025 onward.
The Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Chardonnay is uniquely sensitive to variations in soil, elevation and exposure. In the limestone and clay soils of Meursault, it produces wines of generous orchard-fruit character, citrus freshness, hazelnut complexity and a distinct mineral or saline undertone. In Cuvee Confluence, it expresses both sides of the blend simultaneously: the rounded texture and ripeness of clay-rich En Marcausse, and the citrus-driven freshness and chalky tension of Les Vignes Blanches.
Viticulture and Winemaking
Domaine Clos de la Chapelle's vineyards are certified organic and cultivated according to biodynamic principles. Soils are worked regularly, chemical pesticides and fertilizers are avoided, and yields are carefully controlled to encourage concentration and a clear expression of each individual site.
Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. Vinification is conducted with minimal intervention, allowing the contrasting personalities of En Marcausse and Les Vignes Blanches to remain visible in the finished wine. Fermentation and maturation in oak barrels add texture and complexity, with restrained notes of toast, vanilla and spice that integrate into rather than dominate the wine's fruit and mineral core.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Cuvee Confluence opens with aromas of ripe peach, yellow apple and pear, lifted by citrus peel, white flowers, toasted hazelnut and a delicate oak influence. The palate is supple, juicy and harmonious, with flavors of peach, apple tart and ripe citrus framed by oyster-shell salinity and finely integrated toasted oak. The clay-rich component contributes roundness and depth; the limestone soils bring acidity, mineral tension and focus. Subtle notes of vanilla, butterscotch and hazelnut emerge toward the finish. Despite its generous fruit and texture, the wine remains fresh and balanced, concluding with impressive harmony, mineral persistence and length.
Professional Ratings
92 Points - Wine Spectator: This beautifully integrated white features peach, apple tart and oyster shell flavors framed with toasty oak. Supple and juicy, this ends with echoes of vanilla and butterscotch. Shows excellent harmony and length.
89-91 Points - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (Barrel Sample): The Cuvee Confluence comes from the top of Vignes Blanches and Marcausses, where the pinot part has now been top-grafted to chardonnay (which will really deliver from 2025). Mid lemon yellow. A pleasing fruit on the cusp between white and yellow, decent acidity, some length, not quite the flow which gave me such pleasure in the Vignes Blanches.
The Domaine
Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is a small, historic Cote de Beaune estate based in Bligny-les-Beaune, closely associated with the renowned village of Volnay. It takes its name from the Volnay Premier Cru Clos de la Chapelle monopole, a walled vineyard situated opposite the historic chapel of Notre Dame de Pitie, acquired in 2011 and renamed in honor of its flagship terroir.
Today the estate farms approximately five hectares across 16 individual terroirs in Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Meursault and Corton. All vineyards are certified organic and farmed biodynamically. Grapes are harvested by hand, yields are kept low and cellar intervention is minimized. Total production averages only approximately 1,800 cases annually, making each bottling highly limited.
Food Pairing
Cuvee Confluence is an excellent partner for roast chicken, sole meuniere, halibut with brown butter, sea bass, scallops and lobster ravioli. It also pairs beautifully with creamy mushroom dishes, risotto, pork tenderloin, veal in a light cream sauce and mature cheeses such as Comte or Gruyere.
Serving and Cellaring
Serve at approximately 16 degrees C (61 degrees F). Slightly cooler service will emphasize citrus and mineral character; allowing the wine to warm gradually in the glass will reveal additional texture, hazelnut and oak-spice complexity. The 2023 is expressive enough to enjoy young with a little air, but its acidity and mineral structure should support several years of further development in the cellar.

Egly-Ouriet 'Les Crayeres VV' Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne 750m (Introductory Offer Price)
Egly-Ouriet | Les Crayères VV | Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut | Ambonnay, Montagne de Reims, Champagne | Practicing Organic
Egly-Ouriet is one of Champagne's most revered grower-producers, based in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay on the Montagne de Reims. Francis Egly farms his parcels with meticulous care — practicing organic viticulture, harvesting by hand, and working exclusively with indigenous yeasts — producing Champagnes of uncommon depth, vinous texture, and site-driven precision that have earned the domaine a cult following among collectors and sommeliers worldwide.
Among the rarest and most celebrated wines in the Egly-Ouriet portfolio, Les Crayères VV is a single-vineyard Blanc de Noirs made entirely from old-vine Pinot Noir. VV stands for Vieilles Vignes — old vines. The fruit comes exclusively from the legendary Les Crayères parcel, located just east of Ambonnay, planted largely in 1946 and 1947. The vineyard occupies a prized south-facing site with only a thin layer of topsoil above a deep bed of pure chalk — the name Les Crayères itself refers to this intensely chalky terroir. Very old vines, naturally low yields, and chalk-rich soils produce Pinot Noir of extraordinary concentration, minerality, and freshness.
Harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels (small proportion of new oak), with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve energy and acidity. The wine spends approximately six years aging on its lees before disgorgement, and is finished with an exceptionally low dosage — bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its depth, texture, and individual vineyard character.
Deep golden in the glass. Aromas of ripe pear, dried apple, red berries, and bitter orange unfold alongside toasted brioche, roasted nuts, honey, cocoa, and warm baking spices. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated — fine, persistent mousse, layers of red fruit, ginger, cardamom, and toasted pastry, balanced by mouthwatering acidity, pronounced chalky structure, and a long, saline mineral finish. Although immediately impressive, this is a Champagne built to develop gracefully in the cellar.
An exceptional Champagne for the table — pairs beautifully with smoked salmon, lobster, roasted poultry, duck, charcuterie, wild mushrooms, richly flavored fish, aged Comté, Parmesan, and other firm, mature cheeses.

Egly-Ouriet 'VP' Grand Cru Extra Champagne 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Egly-Ouriet | VP (Vieillissement Prolongé) | Grand Cru Extra Brut | Ambonnay, Montagne de Reims, Champagne | Practicing Organic
One of the most distinguished cuvées in the Egly-Ouriet portfolio, VP stands for Vieillissement Prolongé — extended aging. This exceptional Champagne spends more than seven years resting on its fine lees before disgorgement, considerably longer than most non-vintage Champagnes and even many vintage bottlings. The extended maturation creates remarkable depth, complexity, and a beautifully integrated texture that sets VP apart as one of the great prestige cuvées of the grower Champagne world.
The blend is approximately 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, drawn from Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay. Harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve natural acidity and tension. A very low dosage preserves the wine's energy, precision, and distinctly chalky character — bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Rich and vinous yet exceptionally focused: aromas of red apple, spiced pear, yellow peach, and blood orange, followed by toasted brioche, roasted nuts, baking spices, and subtle floral notes. The palate is full and layered — fine, creamy mousse, vibrant citrus acidity, and pronounced mineral tension, with ginger, orchard fruit, toasted bread, and crushed chalk carrying through an exceptionally long, saline finish. Impressive upon release, yet built to develop beautifully with additional bottle age.
Powerful enough to accompany an entire meal — superb with scallops, lobster, crab, roasted poultry, duck, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, and other firm, nutty cheeses.

Egly-Ouriet Les Vignes de Bisseuil 1er Cru Extra Brut 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Egly-Ouriet | Les Vignes de Bisseuil | Premier Cru Extra Brut | Bisseuil, Montagne de Reims, Champagne | Biodynamic
Egly-Ouriet is one of Champagne's most revered grower-producers, based in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay on the Montagne de Reims. The domaine farms its parcels with meticulous care — practicing organic and biodynamic viticulture, harvesting by hand, and working exclusively with indigenous yeasts — producing Champagnes of uncommon depth, vinous texture, and site-driven precision.
Les Vignes de Bisseuil is the estate's Chardonnay-led expression, drawn from a 1.5-hectare parcel in the Premier Cru village of Bisseuil, situated directly beside the Grand Cru of Aÿ. South-facing, chalk-rich slopes and vines over 40 years old deliver fruit of concentration, freshness, and crystalline mineral definition — a brighter, more finesse-driven counterpoint to the domaine's powerful Pinot Noir-dominant cuvées.
The current release blends 70% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier, fermented and matured in French oak barrels with approximately 10% new oak. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to preserve natural acidity and tension. The wine spends approximately 48 months aging on its lees before disgorgement, and is finished with a dosage of approximately 1 gram per liter — bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Bright and expressive on the nose: lemon zest, crisp pear, Mirabelle plum, and white flowers, with notes of fresh bread, toasted nuts, white pepper, and subtle spice. The palate is concentrated yet energetic — refined mousse, vibrant citrus acidity, and a pronounced chalky minerality, with ripe orchard fruit and a gently creamy texture leading to a long, precise, and saline finish.
Exceptional as an aperitif; equally at home alongside oysters, shellfish, smoked salmon, grilled fish, sushi, roast chicken, charcuterie, creamy cheeses, and lightly aged Comté.

Tommasi Ammura Etna Rosso Contrada 2022 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Ammura · Etna Rosso DOC · 2022
Tommasi Ammura Etna Rosso Contrada 2022 is a single-vineyard Sicilian red that captures the elegance, complexity and volcanic character of Mount Etna. Produced by Ammura, part of Tommasi Family Estates, this limited-production Nerello Mascalese is an age-worthy expression of Etna’s northeastern slopes.
The wine comes from the Contrada Alboretto vineyard in the Chiuse del Signore district near Linguaglossa, approximately 650 meters above sea level. Mineral-rich volcanic soils, cooling mountain breezes and significant temperature variations encourage freshness, aromatic intensity and structural elegance. The vines average approximately 20 years of age and include two small parcels of ancient vines.
Winemaking & Vintage
Made exclusively from 100% Nerello Mascalese, the wine begins with carefully hand-harvested and selected grapes. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 18–22°C, with 12–15 days of maceration, followed by natural malolactic fermentation. Maturation continues for six months in stainless steel and another 24 months in large 20-hectoliter oak barrels, developing depth and refinement while preserving vibrant fruit and mineral character.
The 2022 growing season brought early summer heat and drought, followed by favorable late-season conditions that allowed excellent maturity and balanced phenolic development. The resulting wine combines ripe fruit concentration with Etna’s characteristic freshness, fine tannins and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red with delicate garnet reflections, the wine opens with ripe cherries, wild raspberries, pomegranate and red berries. Blood orange, Mediterranean herbs, black pepper, graphite and smoky volcanic stone add aromatic complexity.
Medium-bodied and harmonious, the palate layers concentrated red fruit with savory herbs, delicate spice and pronounced mineral nuances. Vibrant acidity and firm yet velvety tannins bring precision and balance, leading to a long finish of crushed stone, citrus and subtle volcanic smokiness. Often compared with the finesse of Pinot Noir and the structure of Nebbiolo, Nerello Mascalese offers a distinctive expression of Mount Etna here, with depth and aging potential for collectors and lovers of Italian reds.

Casisano · Rosso di Montalcino DOC · 2024

Produced at the historic Casisano estate, part of Tommasi Family Estates since 2015, it offers Montalcino’s freshness, finesse and distinctive personality in a youthful, approachable style.
Set in the southeastern hills of Montalcino at approximately 480 meters above sea level, Casisano’s well-ventilated vineyards enjoy southeastern exposure, significant temperature variations and stony soils rich in galestro, the schistous clay associated with Tuscany’s vineyards. These conditions encourage slow, even ripening while preserving Sangiovese’s natural acidity and aromatic purity.
Winemaking
Crafted from 100% estate-grown Sangiovese Grosso, the wine undergoes traditional fermentation with approximately 12 days of skin maceration. Eight months in large Slavonian oak casks and a further six months of bottle aging develop structure and complexity without overshadowing its bright fruit and youthful freshness.

Brilliant ruby red in color, the 2024 vintage opens with ripe red cherries, raspberries, juicy plums and delicate violet aromas. Savory herbs, sweet spice and earthy undertones add depth.
The medium-bodied palate is lively and balanced, with fresh cherry and red berry flavors joined by plum, delicate spice and savory nuances. Supple tannins and refreshing acidity create a harmonious texture and a clean, persistent, fruit-driven finish. Often considered Brunello di Montalcino’s younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino expresses the region with a more immediate, accessible personality. This Casisano combines traditional Tuscan elegance with versatility for everyday meals and special occasions alike.

The blend is 65% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 15% Corvinone and 5% Oseleta. Hand-harvested grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation for 10–15 days. The wine then matures for 36 months in large 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks, followed by 24 months in stainless steel. This extended maturation develops aromatic complexity and refined structure while preserving freshness and vibrant fruit.

Expert Ratings
97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Leflaive's 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a great success, unwinding in the glass with a nuanced bouquet of white flowers, crisp orchard fruit, clear honey, toasted hazelnuts and wet stones. Full-bodied, satiny and suave, it's pure and racy, with compelling mid-palate amplitude, beautiful textural refinement and a long, chalky finish. Its ethereal, elegant style makes it a study in contrasts with the muscular, powerful Bâtard.
97 Wine Spectator: Peach, pineapple, lemon oil, citronella, lime blossom, hazelnut, white pepper and oyster shell aromas and flavors are among the complex details in this intense white. Tightens up while building to the superlong aftertaste, all the while remaining elegant and classy. Shows impressive harmony and length.
96 Vinous: The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet despite my giving it five to ten minutes to open up. With hints of sunflower seed and crushed limestone, this is a real clenched fist aromatically. The palate is very well balanced with intense yellow and white fruit, less minerally than the Bâtard perhaps with just a hint of wild honey on the finish. It is a lovely wine…but could this be a year where Bâtard takes the glory?
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Brilliant pale gold with delicate green reflections.
Aroma: White blossoms, fresh pear, crisp apple, lemon zest, ripe peach, honey, toasted hazelnut, and crushed limestone.
Palate: Rich and beautifully textured, with vibrant acidity, concentrated orchard fruit, citrus, subtle spice, and pronounced mineral character.
Finish: Exceptionally long, precise, and elegant, with lingering chalky minerality and refreshing citrus notes.
Food Pairing
An outstanding companion to lobster, seared scallops, turbot, Dover sole, roasted poultry, and delicate cream-based dishes. Its mineral intensity and refined structure also complement truffle preparations and aged Comté cheese.
Cellaring Potential: Excellent aging potential. Wine Advocate suggests a drinking window of 2030–2050, while Wine Spectator recommends 2028–2038.
Domaine Leflaive "Bienvenues" Batard Grand Cru 2023 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Entirely located in the town of Puligny, this Grand Cru was first mentioned back in 1397 when the abbey of Maizière purchased some of it. Old records mentioned that this plot might have been planted with gamay and pinot noir a few hundred years ago. When Dr. Lavalle published his classification of Bourgogne back in 1855, the climat was already planted to Chardonnay. The 2023 vintage was generous in quantity and balanced in quality, following the excellent 2022. A mild, dry winter was followed by a cool, wet spring that helped recharge water reserves.
An exceptional white Burgundy from Domaine Leflaive, the 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru showcases the elegance, precision, and extraordinary complexity of one of Burgundy’s most prestigious vineyard sites. Crafted from Chardonnay grown in Puligny-Montrachet, this remarkable Grand Cru combines refined opulence, silky texture, vibrant acidity, and captivating minerality, delivering a beautifully balanced wine with impressive depth and aging potential.
Expert Ratings
96 Points – Wine Spectator: A ripe white, this exudes peach, pineapple, mango, and apple tart aromas and flavors. Toasted brioche and a range of baking spice notes emerge as this expands on the kaleidoscopic aftertaste. Starts out broad but gains focus and finesse on the aftertaste. Best from 2027 through 2037.
95 Points – Vinous: The 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a stern, backward, petrichor- and limestone-scented bouquet that is quite Zen-like after the range of Premier Crus. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a silver bead of acidity, gaining weight in the mouth and very saline on the finish, with hints of orange zest on the aftertaste. Excellent.
95 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: The 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a full-bodied, dense, and ample wine evocative of peach, orange oil, honeycomb, buttered toast, and white flowers. Structured and imposing, it combines generous richness with remarkable depth and complexity, promising to reward bottle aging.
93–95 Points – Burghound: Sourced from the Domaine’s oldest vines, this outstanding Grand Cru offers beautifully textured, concentrated, and full-bodied flavors with focused power. A pronounced bitter-lemon character carries through to an exceptionally long finish, highlighting the wine’s impressive structure, intensity, and potential for extended aging.
92-94 Prominent honeysuckle aromas add a touch of breadth to the equally ripe yet somehow more elegant nose of spicy and exotic jasmine tea and gardenia. There is again very good detail and a highly appealing underlying tension to the gorgeously textured flavors that exhibit focused power on the superbly long, balanced and compact finale. This is also built to age a decade or more but in this case, it could reasonably be approached after only 4 to 5 years.

98 Points – Vinous: The 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a little more intensity on the nose than the Bienvenue, with touches of struck flint, cold stone, and light Granny Smith apple scents that are tightly coiled and unfold with aeration. The palate is crisp and taut, much more mineral-driven than the Bienvenue, with a truly complex and persistent finish that is a joy to behold. This riveted me to the spot and is one of the finest expressions of this holding that I have encountered in over 25 years of tasting at Leflaive.
98 Points – Wine Spectator: Taut and intense, featuring lime blossom, citronella, oyster shell, hazelnut, vanilla, and pastry aromas and flavors, this white is driven by its laser-like acidity. Balanced, with a seemingly endless finish that echoes the complex flavors and leaves you wanting more.
96 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: Notes of orange oil, pear, and peach mingle with hints of nutmeg, clear honey, and buttered toast, introducing Leflaive’s 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. Full-bodied, dense, and blocky, it is broad-shouldered and multidimensional, with an unctuous attack, a deep mid-palate, and a broad, expansive finish.
Rich and powerful yet remarkably refined, with aromas of ripe pear, white peach, citrus zest, and delicate white flowers, layered with toasted hazelnut, subtle spice, and crushed limestone. The palate is full-bodied and beautifully textured, balancing luscious orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and profound mineral complexity. A long, elegant finish reveals hints of citrus, saline freshness, and finely integrated oak. A magnificent expression of Grand Cru Chardonnay with outstanding aging potential.

Famille Ferrando Chateauneuf-du-Pape "Colombis" 2023 750ml (Introductory Offer - Pre-Sale)
Famille Ferrando · Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis · 2023
100% Grenache · Rhône Valley, France · 750ml · Introductory Offer — Pre-Sale
Producer & Terroir
Isabel Ferrando’s reputation for outstanding wines has grown since her first release in 2003. Colombis brings together Grenache from three parcels, Rayas, Les Roues, and Colombis, offering a focused expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Tasting Notes
Rose petals, violets, black raspberries and dark cherries meet licorice, pepper and dried herbs. The critics describe a wine of depth and concentration, balanced by a perfumed character, fine tannins and a seamless, lingering finish.
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
Wine Spectator, 95 Points: Expressive, perfumed and ripe, with a glossy stream of bitter cherry and steeped plum anchored by bolts of iron. Warm spice, licorice, sanguine and grilled anise notes merge in, with a vivid flash of alpine herbs and singed alder smoke. A weighty, well-structured red that’s still unwinding yet is impressively approachable
James Suckling, 98 Points: Enormously deep and concentrated, but this is so subtle and defies easy description. The superfine tannins give this an incredibly fine texture, the richness building in the finish without adding anything to the impression of weight. From three old-vine grenache vineyards that have limestone, sand and galet soils. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Jeb Dunnuck, 97 Points: Black raspberries, ground pepper, white pepper, and sappy floral notes all make an appearance in the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis, another remarkable wine from this family. With medium to full-bodied richness, it's incredibly well-balanced, has ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. As with the estate’s other cuvées, it reminds me of their 2020. As usual, this cuvée is 100% Grenache that’s from a mix of three parcels (Rayas, Les Roues, and Colombis). It was not destemmed and was brought up in a mix of concrete, foudre, and clay jars.
Vinous, 96 Points: The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis is magnificent, bursting from the glass with prominent rose petal, crushed violets, strawberry compote, spicy licorice, dried herbs and minty shadings. Enveloped in velvety tannins, the perfumed 2023 is shaping up to be a wildly alluring Colombis, closing with a subtle phenolic kick on the focused finish. I can’t wait to taste it from bottle.
Wine Advocate, 94 Points: A pure Grenache Noir planted in the north part of the appellation and vinified with 30% whole bunches, the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis has turned out beautifully. Evoking aromas of rose, dark cherries, spices and dark berries, it’s medium- to full-bodied, seamless and satiny with a beautifully ethereal finish.
Pairing Suggestions
Try with herb-roasted lamb, duck breast, braised beef or roasted mushrooms.

Elena Walch Kastelaz Gewürztraminer Alto Adige 2025 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Elena Walch Vigna Kastelaz Gewürztraminer Alto Adige 2025 is an exceptional single-vineyard white wine from one of Italy's most celebrated estates. Considered an international benchmark for Gewürztraminer, this iconic wine has helped earn Elena Walch the title "Queen of Gewürztraminer," reflecting her pioneering contribution to the reputation of Alto Adige's finest white wines.
The wine originates from the prestigious Vigna Kastelaz vineyard, dramatically situated above the historic wine village of Tramin, widely regarded as the birthplace of Gewürztraminer. This extraordinary south-facing vineyard, with slopes exceeding 63%, is cultivated on narrow terraces where low yields, meticulous hand harvesting, and exceptional growing conditions produce grapes of remarkable concentration and character.
The vineyard's distinctive limestone-rich soils, interspersed with sand and rocky deposits, combine with warm Mediterranean sunshine and cooling alpine breezes to create wines of aromatic intensity, freshness, and elegance.
Tasting Notes
The Gewürztraminer Vigna Kastelaz displays a rich, brilliant golden-yellow color and an enchanting, complex bouquet of fragrant rose petals, exotic lychee, delicate acacia honey, and subtle mineral nuances.
On the palate, the wine is expressive and beautifully structured, combining aromatic richness with stimulating acidity and harmonious spicy freshness. Layers of floral and exotic fruit character unfold gracefully, leading to a delicate, juicy, and lingering finish.
Despite its aromatic intensity, this Gewürztraminer maintains remarkable finesse, freshness, and balance, making it a sophisticated expression of one of Alto Adige's most distinctive grape varieties.
Winemaking & Vineyard
The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand from the steep, south-facing terraces of Vigna Kastelaz. The fully ripe fruit is picked in two passes to achieve optimal maturity and aromatic complexity.
Following approximately six hours of cold skin contact, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and natural clarification. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at approximately 18°C (64°F), followed by several months of maturation on fine lees to develop texture, complexity, and harmony.
Food Pairing
An outstanding companion to lobster, crab, shrimp, and other shellfish, as well as aromatic Asian cuisine, Thai dishes, and flavorful cheeses, particularly blue cheese. Its floral complexity and elegant structure also make it a memorable wine for special occasions.
An iconic single-vineyard Gewürztraminer that beautifully captures the character of Alto Adige, combining aromatic richness, alpine freshness, and extraordinary finesse.

Following a careful harvest, the base wines are fermented and matured with meticulous attention to detail, including partial aging in oak vessels to enhance texture, complexity, and aromatic development.
Extended maturation on the lees brings greater depth, fine bubbles, and delicate notes of pastry and toasted nuts, while the exceptionally restrained dosage preserves the wine's natural freshness and mineral precision.
The result is a sophisticated vintage Champagne that balances generous fruit character with remarkable energy, elegance, and structure.

On the palate, this Champagne is vibrant, beautifully textured, and remarkably precise. Pinot Noir contributes richness and depth, while Chardonnay brings brightness, finesse, and an elegant citrus-driven freshness.
Flavors of crisp apple, lemon zest, ripe pear, and delicate stone fruit unfold alongside subtle pastry notes and a distinctive chalky, saline minerality.
The mousse is fine and elegant, creating a smooth, almost creamy sensation balanced by refreshing acidity.

The wine is neither fined nor filtered, allowing its original character to remain intact. Fermentation and maturation are handled with minimal intervention, reflecting the estate's commitment to producing authentic, terroir-focused Champagnes.
For the 2022 vintage, the wine undergoes approximately 24 months of aging on its lees, followed by an additional six months of rest after disgorgement.
Finished with an exceptionally low dosage of 2.5 grams per liter, this Extra Brut Champagne offers impressive precision, freshness, and a wonderfully dry finish.

Flavors of crisp apple, ripe pear, lemon zest, and subtle red fruit are complemented by delicate toasted notes and a finely textured mousse.
The wine's low dosage allows its purity and underlying chalky minerality to shine, creating a precise, elegant, and refreshingly dry expression of Blanc de Noirs.

Professional Ratings
93 Points James Suckling: This impressive NV champagne shows what generosity and charm pinot noir is capable of in champagne. Impressive depth, but also lovely candied-citrus juiciness. Then comes a long and elegant, chalky finish. A cuvee of 85% pinot noir and 15% chardonnay, based on the 2018 vintage with 35% reserve wines from earlier vintages. It’s actually entitled to the Extra Brut designation, thanks to very low dosage. Sustainable. Drink now.
91 Wine Spectator: Racy acidity firms this tightly knit Champagne, while the fine texture softens some of the angularity and helps to show the range of the white raspberry, ground ginger, chalk and pink grapefruit pith flavors. Balanced overall, this should open nicely with short-term cellaring. Disgorged October 2016. Best after 2019. 3,300 cases made, 500 cases imported.

Ayala Le Blanc de Blancs A/18 2018 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Winemaker Notes: Fresh and lively, with a dazzling youthful character followed by a broad and appetizing palate of white fruit and acacia honey with subtle pastry and brioche overtones. The finish is long and persistent, revealing a touch of chalky minerality, a signature of the Côte des Blancs, along with hints of grapefruit, blood orange and a delicate salinity.
Expert Ratings
94 Wine Enthusiast: A beautiful Champagne, this citrus and white-fruited wine is tightly textured with a strong mineral character and pure acidity and freshness. The low dosage means it is dry, but the fruit contrasts well with this.
93 Jeb Dunnuck: The 2018 Champagne Blanc De Blancs A/18 Extra Brut is 100% Chardonnay from Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Bisieul, and Cuis and spent six years in the cellars. A floral vintage, this wine boasts elegant notes of white peach, pear, fresh pastry, lemon candies, and fresh almond. Approachable and medium-bodied, the palate is more rounded, with a creamy mousse and lasting suggestions of fresh custard on the finish.
93 James Suckling: Lemony and pristine with aspirin-like tension. Light-bodied, showing superzesty tangerine flavors with bright fruit definition and good length. It might lack complexity at the moment but is poised to develop lots of energy, elegance and nerviness.
Ayala Champagne Rosé Majeur 750ml (Introductory Offer)
Winemaker Notes: Brut Rosé Majeur is a blend of Chardonnay (51%), Pinot Noir (40%) and Pinot Meunier (9%). The very high proportion of Chardonnay and the ageing process result in a Champagne with remarkable finesse and elegance.

Expert Ratings
93 James Suckling: Toasted brioche, red fruit, white pepper, baking spices and yellow peaches on the nose. Fine bubbles and flavors of grenadine, white flowers and blackberries. The palate is soft and tangy, with a well-defined peach character. 52% chardonnay, 29% pinot noir and 19% meunier.
93 Wine Spectator: Fresh and harmonious, this well-tailored rosé Champagne integrates a rich vein of chalky minerality and finely honed acidity with the raw silk–like mousse and a lovely range of crunchy white peach, raspberry, chopped almond and candied ginger. Long and minerally on the creamy finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
90 Jeb Dunnuck: A lacy and elegantly styled Rose Champagne, the NV Champagne Majeur Rose Brut is always a high proportion of Chardonnay, with it clocking in at 51% of the blend for this vintage, with 10% Meunier and the rest Pinot Noir (6% of which came from Ay). Based on the 2019 vintage, it saw the same reduction of dosage as the Majeur Brut, from 7 grams per liter to 6 grams per liter of dosage. On opening, it pours a pale pink-silver color and is fresh with aromas of white peach, fresh rose petals, and fresh strawberry. Medium-bodied on the palate, it offers a delicate mousse, fresh notes of orchard fruit, a delicate, chalky texture, and clean lift on the finish..
90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The NV Rosé Majeur Brut reveals aromas of red berries, pomegranate, grapefruit and raspberries. Moderately weighted, incisive and taut, it's delicately juicy with a long, saline finish. This incisive, tense rosé is composed of 52% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir (including 5% as a red wine) and 10% Pinot Meunier and was disgorged with a dosage of six grams per liter.
Ayala Champagne No° 14 Rosé 750ml (Introductory Offer)
N° 14 is the third opus from the “COLLECTION AYALA,” a set of cuvees produced in limited quantities, unveiled only as they approach their peak level of drinkability. This ephemeral cuvee is 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir — including Grand Cru Aÿ red wine.
Thanks to its extended ageing in the cellar and a low dosage of 5.3 grams/liter, N° 14 expertise, the ephemeral cuvée N°14 is composed of the five emblematic Grands Crus that form the backbone of the House’s blends. Caroline Latrive wanted to work the crus in equal proportions, exclusively from the 2014 vintage and for the first time in a rosé version.
Expert Reviews
94 Wine Enthusiast: "This is the third in an open-ended series of limited-production Champagnes. This new iteration is now beginning its rich maturity, with five Grand Cru villages at its heart. It is a finely textured wine with weight and dryness mitigated by the ripe fruit."—R.V.
93 James Suckling: "Plenty of strawberry character with iron, peaches and hints of chalk. Full-bodied with medium, round tannins and a spicy, cotton-candy and orange-peel aftertaste."
92 Jeb Dunnuck: "A very different expression, the 2014 Champagne No 14 Brut Rosé is a pale peach hue, with a subtle and attractive perfume of lilac, tangerine, and cantaloupe. It has more racy and compact tension on the palate, with a soft, chalky texture that lifts cleanly. There is nice, snappy energy to this wine, which can be drunk over the next 10 or so years."
