This wine is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 4%
Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. The grapes originated from Tokara vineyards on the

Tim Atkin 97 Points | Picked early because of the pandemic, but not showing any less concentration as a result, this is one of Chile’s finest Bordeaux blends, made with an 80/20 blend of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Macul estate in Satiago. Concentrated yet not overbearing, it has damson, cassis and potpourri flavours and a frame of toast and vanilla spicy oak. Built to last.

This 100% Barbera wine is produced from a Monferrato vineyard that is 20 to 30 years old. The soil contains white marl and tends to be calcareous.

This wine has a red color with intense purple tones and a fruit nose with light spice notes. It has a persistent flavor reminiscent of currants, violets, cherries and vanilla.

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | A great vintage for this cuvée, the 2022 Gigondas Terrasse Du Diable comes from higher elevation sites and pure limestone soils. (It's mostly Grenache.) Rocking levels of kirsch, ripe cherries, chalky minerality, melted licorice, and white flowers all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a round, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's one hell of a sexy, ripe, impossible-to-resist Gigondas.

This 100% Dolcetto comes from the Commune of Treiso, on the Monte Aribaldo hill. It sits at 350 meters above sea level and has a south-facing exposure. The even altitude and its prominent position allow the grapes to ripen consistently and give ample body to the Dolcetto.

The wine undergoes vinification on skins with a six/seven days fermentation with floating cap at a controlled temperature; pumping over. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full after the alcoholic fermentation. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and cement for five months before a brief bottle aging.

Deep dense intense ruby red colour, with a purple viscous rim. Intense nose with ripe blackberry, wild strawberry and spices. Powerful and expansive on the palate, with ripe tannins and great balance. Round and fresh ending, long-lasting, with aromatic persistence.

Intense ruby red in color. An ample and complex bouquet, with distinct notes of flowers, fresh fruit, and spices. The palate is vigorous and vibrant, a lovely acidic vein fused with a lot of flavors makes it an ample and balanced wine. Elegant and soft tannins. This comes from the lieux-dits of Grands Clos and Clos Chareau, the former higher up on limestone soils, the latter lower down with more clay. Such is the demand for whites from the village, top red Chassagne is almost a dying breed. This is a fine example, satisfying in its ruggedness, yet seductive in its summer pudding fruit. Although lighter than recent vintages, this will still need a while to come together.

Those familiar with previous vintages of this wine will find this vintage to have considerable more control, balance and depth. Santiago is constantly learning and the leap from last vintage to this might represent his biggest step forward yet.

The Syrah Tous les Jours is a quintessential Santa Ynez Valley Syrah. It is simultaneously Bold and Balanced, Rich and Smooth, Fruit Forward and Earthy. It is impossibly dark and full-bodied, without ever going over the top. It is heavily inspired by Northern Rhone Syrah (Hermitage) and Australian Shiraz (Barossa Valley). The aromas and flavors are dominated by black cherry, raspberry, white pepper, forest floor and toasty oak. It is a unique and special expression of Syrah, perfected by us over the past 3 decades. Moreover, it is a style that one can enjoy every day.

VINEYARDS

The carefully selected vineyard sites are the genius of this wine. Each site is situated in a distinct and unique part of the Santa Ynez Valley. They are all impeccably farmed using sustainable practices to provide modest yields of rich, dark, balanced Syrah. Most of the Syrah comes from the Foxen Canyon corridor, adjacent to my old vineyard. This cooler climate location imparts some wonderful savory characters, ideal natural acidity and color, and rich black cherry quality. Next, we look to warmer sites (like Los Olivos) to provide upfront fruit and mouthfeel. Careful blending yields an insanely dark color, riper cherry, raspberry, white pepper and floral notes, all with an incredibly refreshing, balanced and age worthy natural acidity.

WINEMAKING

Each vineyard site and sub-block is carefully hand-picked at optimum ripeness and field sorted during the cold nights typical to the SYV. We then gently sort, destem and partially crush the Syrah. (We also employ some partial-whole-cluster winemaking as well.) Each unique site, clone, and rootstock combination is open-top fermented in small tanks for 2-3 weeks, with lots of oversight and little to no intervention. After a gentle pressing, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16 months.

This bold Cabernet Sauvignon is harvested from vineyards across Napa Valley, warmer climate hillside vineyard fruit and valley floor fruit creating a wine that celebrates the region’s diversity. The nose wafts from the glass with red and black currants, hints of leather, cedar, and spice that add an earthy character. The palate is bursting with with blackberry, currant and a layer of brown sugar. The finish is long and smooth and complemented by rich, round tannins.

Vinous 94 Points | The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Antonio Castagnedi is darkly alluring, with a seductive blend of black cherries and crushed violet candies giving way to a dusting of cocoa. This is silky smooth, nearly creamy yet lifted in feel, with ripe red fruits contrasted by a tinge of bitter balsamic spice. This tapers off with youthful tension, leaving a coating of grippy tannins that are nicely offset by a bump of residual acidity. There’s lovely balance within the 2019 that makes this an excellent option for the dinner table but will also promote aging. It clocks in at just 15% alcohol as well. Gorgeous.

Dark brambly forest fruits intertwined with raw coffee beans, like a trek to the depths of the Balinese mountains. The Wine Advocate 92 Points | This is a large production of 85,000 bottles that sources its fruit from various plots planted in 2004 and 2007 at 600 meters in elevation on terraces made with volcanic rocks. The Tenuta Tascante 2022 Etna Rosso Ghiaia Nera offers focused fruit aromas of redcurrant and cranberry. The wine shows a dark ruby color and medium texture. Its informal personality would match a plate of home-cooked pasta or a wood-oven pizza.
