Making wine in the Languedoc is nothing new — the Greeks and Romans were doing it millennia ago. Prior to owning the estate, the Guiberts traveled the world as part of a family leather business, and became enamored with grapes from far-off and exotic locales.

Tasting Notes

Powder bright pink in color. Aromas of small red fruits on a finely spiced background. The palate is fresh, persistent and fruity, followed by citrus notes and minerals with a very balanced acid framework.

Vineyard

Sourced from the Cernetig vineyard in the Cialla Valley — a 0.70 hectare parcel with south-southeast exposure at 200–230 meters in elevation. The soil is a mix of marl (clay and lime) with marly limestone, notable for its especially high pH, which the family believes contributes to the wine’s aging potential.

Viticulture

Both Ivan and his brother Pierpaolo are entomologists, making biodiversity central to their philosophy. The winery is certified “Biodiversity Friend” — an organization that surveys and protects biodiversity, ensuring the production process does not lead to environmental loss and that the producer is committed to improving the quality of the surrounding ecosystem.

Winemaking

Maceration on the skins for 18 hours followed by very soft pressing. Fermentation of the free-run must in stainless steel at controlled temperature. Aged for a couple of months in bottle before release.

About the Producer

Ronchi di Cialla is a historic producer in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, just under three miles from the Slovenian border. Ronchi means “hills,” and Cialla — the name of the valley — derives from the Slovenian word cela, meaning “riviera,” a nod to the valley’s Mediterranean-like microclimate, complete with olive trees and other Mediterranean flora.

Winemaker Description 

The 2023 vintage overall was a classic vintage for the Finger Lakes. Budbreak was early and a hard freeze on May 13th threatened many vineyards.  June and July were very wet with frequent rains and high disease pressure.  Finally, mid-August the region saw some sun although rains continued at regular intervals.  The long fall season dried out a bit to make the vintage a very classic style with bright acidity and cool climate fruit flavors. It also allowed us to fully ripen the Cabernet Franc that makes up most of this blend in this fresh style of Rose.

Winemaking: To produce our Rose, we used Cabernet Franc which was pressed quickly to ensure a delicate rose color and minimal skin tannins. We allowed the pressed juice to sit on gross lees for several days before racking to enhance the body and texture of the final wine. Then a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel maximized the intense aromas and flavors. For the final blend we added a small amount of our Chardonnay fermented in a neutral French Oak barrel to lengthen the finish and solidify the acid backbone of the wine. 

Hermann J. Wiemer is one of the Finger Lakes’ founding fathers of fine wine — a pioneer who proved that New York could produce world-class vinifera. This certified organic Dry Rosé is a standout expression of the estate’s commitment to precision and terroir. Crafted primarily from Pinot Noir with a touch of Cabernet Franc for phenolic lift, the 2024 underwent 18 hours of skin contact followed by one month of indigenous yeast fermentation — a process that yields a bright, structured rosé with real depth and food versatility.

Magoutes Siatista Rosé — Macedonia, Greece 2025

Magoutes Vineyard sits at 800 metres above sea level in the rugged, inhospitable region of Siatista in northern Macedonia — one of Greece's most compelling and least-known wine territories. Winemaker Dimitri Diamantis practices radical low-intervention viticulture: spontaneous fermentation, gentle racking off skins, and aging in old barrels to finish. The vineyard holds sway over everything.

This rosé is a blend of 80% Xinomavro and 20% Moschomavro — an über-rare indigenous variety (meaning "black Muscat") grown almost exclusively by Diamantis. The result is a wine of delicate partridge-eye color, subtly aromatic with hints of redcurrants and fraises de bois, wonderfully fruity within a structured core of zingy acidity. A rosé of real character and place.

Winemaker Description

Château Sainte Roseline, Lampe de Méduse, with its unique shape, is the iconic and historic cuvée of the estate. Since 1950, it has been the heart of the production of this famous Cru Classé vineyard.

Famous as a historic site but also for its premium Rosés, Château Sainte Roseline is a Provence icon.

Its pale color is slightly salmony. The complex and intense nose reveals fine notes of peaches and mangos. The beautiful liveliness and persistence of the aromatic notes at the end of the palate make this a very crunchy wine. A minty finish sublimates its beautiful freshness.

Billy Norris of Vinous writes | The 2023 Rosé Lampe de Meduse is dark and alluring on the nose, displaying watermelon, red berry fruit and orange peel aromas. Rounded and honeyed on the palate, there's just enough acidity to propel this past the finish line. Rosemary and thyme hints hang around after the close, kicking this wine more into the savory spectrum than I expected. This is interesting and characterful.  Drinking 2024 - 2025.

Jancis Robinson writes 16 Points | Drier and more substantial than their Prestige 2023 bottling. Lots of fruit with a (just) sufficiently dry finish. Some intrigue. 

Underwood Rosé — Oregon 355ml Can

Underwood is the wine that made canned wine cool — and their Rosé is the one that started it all. Made by Union Wine Company in Oregon, Underwood draws from the diverse palette of vineyards and wine-growing regions the state has to offer, blending them into something fresh, fun, and genuinely delicious. The winemaker calls it the perfect wine for “action-lounging” — and honestly, that’s exactly right.

The blend is three-quarters Pinot Gris for body and freshness, with a dose of Muscat for floral pop and a dash of Pinot Noir for color. Fruit is harvested on the riper end of the spectrum, destemmed with a range of skin contact times depending on the source, then slowly cold-fermented at 50–55°F for a month or more. Fermentation is halted at an average of 4.5 g/L residual sugar, leaving the wine lively, juicy, and just off-dry. Fresh strawberry, ruby grapefruit, and apricot on the nose and palate, with a crisp, clean finish.

Scala Cirò Rosé — Calabria, Italy 2025 750ml

The Scala family has farmed the sun-scorched hills of Calabria for over 200 years — and their Cirò Rosé is one of southern Italy’s most compelling and underappreciated wines. Founded in 1949 and rebuilt with renewed ambition in 2005, the estate is today led by Luigi Scala, a traditionalist who favors quality over quantity and lets the ancient Gaglioppo grape speak for itself. His son Francesco joined in 2008, bringing modern precision to a winery rooted in centuries of Calabrian heritage. The Cirò DOC, established in 1969, is one of Italy’s oldest appellations — and Scala is among its finest interpreters.

Translucent salmon-orange in color with brilliant clarity. The nose is aromatic and inviting: spicy peach, watermelon, and blood orange mingle with distinct stony, mineral notes. On the palate, it is gorgeously rounded and silky — tangy blood orange, peach, and citrus fruits are underscored by wet slate and a saline mineral tension that is unmistakably Calabrian.
