Winemaker Description 

An attractive greenish-yellow colour. Its ageing in foudres has lent it citrus and green chilli pepper aromas, as well as saline notes. In the mouth, it is very structured and tense thanks to its high acidity and minerality. The finish is clean and persistent, with a subtle saline note coming through. This highly complex Sauvignon Blanc tempts you to enjoy it with food.

Block 22 is located on the first terrace of the river Huasco. It has very old, stony soils from the river which have very special qualities: a little clay and a lot of calcareous soil – lime, calcium carbonate – white soils. Characterized by low yields of grapes with very concentrated fresh fruit. In the Atacama Desert in the Huasco valley, the temperatures were fresh, especially at night. Temperatures are kept low because of the constant cool morning breezes blowing in from the Pacific Ocean, as well as the classic “Camanchaca”, a dense fog which comes in from the ocean, helping to regulate the temperatures and ensure an optimum level of humidity in the atmosphere.

Producer Description 

Our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, white flowers, white peach, lemon grass, and orange peel. On the palate are aromas of pineapple, guava, tropical fruit, Asian pear, candied lemon, and green melon. The wine has a bright acidity and wonderful texture on the mid-palate.

 While the core of this wine is Sauvignon Blanc, the Musqué, Sémillon, and Viognier add a lot of floral notes and viscosity to this vintage. We captured these wonderful floral notes by fermenting each variety separately in concrete eggs, stainless steel drums, and tanks.

The French oak barrels, in which 10% of the wine aged in, were very lightly toasted to preserve the delicate fruity aromas and provide a creamy texture to the mid-palate of the wine.

Encomienda de Cervera is one of Spain’s most singular estate wineries — a historic property with documented vineyard records dating to 1741, situated in the Campo de Calatrava, a volcanic appellation in Castilla-La Mancha that remains one of the country’s best-kept secrets. The estate’s vineyards grow on volcanic soils at 750–850 meters of altitude, cooled by mountain microclimates with cold nights that preserve natural acidity and generate exceptional aromatic complexity. Salt River Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of five different vineyard sites located around Stellenbosch. The anchor of the wine is the now a 35year-old bush vine vineyard grown on the slopes of Bottelary. The other components are trellised and bush vine vineyards, with various different aspects, planted in granitic soil. These vineyards have combined exceptionally well in creating the saline mineral style of Sauvignonn.

Our 2022 Red Mountain Sauvignon Blanc an ideal example of a perfectly balanced Red Mountain white wine—rich and full on the midpalate, bright tropical fruit flavors balanced with crisp mouthwatering acidity. The vineyard sourcing blends a newer, but well known, extremely warm growing site in Quintessence with the more established and slightly cooler Artz and Klipsun vineyard plantings from the early 1980’s. The result and complex and delicious expression of Sauvignon Blanc. On the aroma we get pineapple, lemon pith, and wet rocks. Te Koko 2023 is initially reticent on the nose, but with time in the glass opens to reveal notes of just-ripe mango, lemon verbena and juicy sun-warmed lemon. The palate is concentrated and mouthwateringly complex. The sun-warmed impression continues, with notes of meadow hay, preserved citrus, and white nectarine, with layers of salted almond and a gentle smoky minerality leading through to a long and focused finish.

This wine’s tart, spiky glints of passion fruit tease the nose amidst all its lemony freshness. With a little air, the passion fruit note grows smoother and fuller. The palate glows in this fruitiness and complements it with creamy richness. It’s lovely and seductive now but sure to get even better.

"The Heart of the Queen" is a collaboration between two fourth-generation Loire Valley families — Ludivine Marteau and Vincent Leclair — whose roots in Touraine run as deep as the clay-and-flint soils they farm. François Lurton and his brother Jacques have been producing Chilean wines since 1992, but it was not until 2000 that they found their ideal terroir: 200 hectares in the Lolol area of the Colchagua Valley, where vines had never been cultivated before. The cool, stable climate and disease-free conditions of this high-altitude site — now certified organic by Ecocert — are a paradise for Sauvignon Blanc, producing fruit of exceptional purity and precision. The Humo Blanco is the estate’s flagship white, and the 2024 vintage is a textbook expression of what cool-climate Chilean Sauvignon Blanc can achieve.

The nose is fresh and bright with good intensity: lime, peeled green apple, gooseberry, and wet stones. On the palate it is acid-driven and pure, with a crisp, zingy finish that lingers with mineral clarity.
