James Suckling writes: A velvety and fresh wine with silky tannins that flow across the palate. It's medium-bodied with an impression of crunchiness. Creamy texture. Zesty, flavorful finish. Very approachable now but better in two or three years. Second wine of d'Issan. 44% cabernet sauvignon, 55% merlot and 1% petit verdot. - James Suckling 94

Jeb Dunnuck writes: The second wine of this château, the 2022 Blason D'Issan is based on 55% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot that was raised in 35% new oak. It has a terrific nose of ripe red and black currants, leafy herbs, damp earth, and tobacco. This carries to a medium-bodied 2022 with plenty of fruit, a round, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. It will evolve nicely for 15 years or more. - Jeb Dunnuck 91

Jane Anson writes: Intense spice here, turmeric and black chocolate, blackcurrant and bilberry fruit, personality and poise, a lovely 2nd wine. Harvested September 15 to 28. 30hl/h yield, 3.6ph. tannin count of 70IPT, 35% new oak. Drinking 2027 to 2042. - Jane Anson 92

James Lawther MW writes: 55% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot. Cask sample.
Brambly and lifted. Broad and fleshy. Juicy extract and well-presented tannins. Handles the alcohol well. - Jancis Robinson 16+

Antonio Galloni writes: The 2022 Blason d'Issan is a delight. Soft, supple and inviting, this seductive Margaux will drink well right out of the gate. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage and mint all grace the gentle, open-knit finish. Drinking 2025 to 2032. Drinking 2025 to 2032. - Vinous 90

William Kelley writes: An attractive effort that shares some of the style and personality of the grand vin this year, the 2022 Blason d'Issan exhibits aromas of sweet blackberries, violets, loamy soil and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium to full-bodied, sweet and fleshy palate built around powdery tannins. - Robert Parker Wine Advocate 91
