Chopin is Poland’s most celebrated vodka distillery, and Family Reserve is its most extraordinary expression — a once-in-a-decade release that begins with a single exceptional potato harvest. Every year, Chopin plants special varieties of potatoes on their estate in Krzesk, searching for the rare growing season that produces something truly remarkable. The 2016 harvest was that season. Harvested at the peak of summer, when the potatoes were still young and their skins still tender, the spirit was carefully distilled to retain as much sweet earthiness as possible — then rested for two years in 50-year-old oak barrels before being bottled by hand. The result is the world’s first rested, super-premium potato vodka: a spirit of extraordinary complexity and refinement that transcends the category entirely.
Crystal clear with subtle golden hints from oak aging. The nose offers hints of spice accenting a gentle sweet musk. On the palate, gentle earthy sweetness opens first, followed by understated notes of licorice and clove, a velvety mouthfeel, and a medium-long finish of lingering warmth. Best enjoyed neat or in a classic martini — anything more would be a waste.
