In 1991, the Thibault family decided to create the “Domaine de Villargeau” on land facing south-southwest and enjoying the greatest amount of sunshine. Two brothers, Fernand and Jean-François Thibault, cleared hillsides abandoned since the phylloxera crisis in order to plant vines. The story continues when, in 2000, they were joined by one of their sons, Marc, returning to the area armed with his apprenticeship and experience in viticulture and oenology. Yves, Marc’s brother, joined the estate in place of Jean-Fernand. Deeply aware of environmental matters, he is committed to promoting an even more eco-friendly production model. These commitments culminated in 2019 with the Domaine de Villargeau launching its conversion to organic agriculture.
The 2023 Domaine de Villargeau Coteaux du Giennois is pale yellow with silvery glints. The initial nose offers aromas of tangerine, grapefruit and lemon on a floral background with subtle notes of lily of the valley and elderberry. On aeration, the nose gains complexity with more mineral and spicy aromas. Notes of lime blossom and bergamot complete the aromatic palette. Very fresh, lively attack. The palate is consistent with the nose, with the same tangerine and lemon. Characterized by finesse and intensity, the wine ends on lovely mineral notes.
