Henri Goutorbe Cuvée Special Club Brut 2015 is the prestige vintage bottling from this highly regarded family estate in Aÿ, one of Champagne’s most celebrated Grand Cru villages. Produced under the Special Club designation—reserved for top grower-producers in the Club Trésors de Champagne—this cuvée represents the house at its most refined, expressive, and age-worthy.
The 2015 vintage delivers a generous, powerful style balanced by freshness and structure. In the glass, it opens with layered aromas of ripe orchard fruit, baked apple, citrus zest, toasted brioche, roasted nuts, and subtle pastry cream, underscored by delicate mineral notes. On the palate, it is broad and vinous yet precise, with fine mousse, impressive concentration, and a long, elegant finish marked by notes of pear, lemon curd, spice, and chalky tension.
Henri Goutorbe, based in the heart of Aÿ, is known for crafting Champagnes of depth, character, and notable Pinot Noir-driven richness. This Special Club bottling captures both the personality of the vintage and the pedigree of the village, making it an excellent choice for collectors, serious Champagne lovers, and special occasions.
Rich enough to enjoy on its own, Henri Goutorbe Cuvée Special Club Brut 2015 also pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, roast chicken, truffle dishes, creamy cheeses, and elegant seafood preparations. While already showing beautifully, it also has the structure to develop added complexity with further cellaring.
Vinous: 94 Points: “The 2015 Special Club is a very pretty, expressive wine that captures the essence of Aÿ in a ten-year-old Champagne. Kirsch, cinnamon, dried flowers, ginger, citrus confit and marzipan all caress the palate. Readers looking for a Champagne that has been gently shaped by the passage of time will find that here. The deceptively long, understated finish is a thing of beauty. This is one of the finest Champagnes I have tasted from Goutorbe in some time.”
