Oban is one of Scotland’s oldest and most storied distilleries, founded in 1794 on the rugged west coast of the Highlands — a town and a distillery that grew up together. Perched between the mountains and the sea, Oban occupies a unique geographic position that gives its whisky a character unlike any other: maritime and coastal, yet rich and warming, with none of the heavy peat of the islands. Little Bay is Oban’s small cask expression — matured in a combination of small casks including American oak, European oak, and small refill casks, which accelerate maturation and impart exceptional depth and complexity. The result is a whisky of remarkable richness and approachability, with a medium to rich body and good viscosity that makes it one of the most satisfying drams in the Highland canon.
