Wine Enthusiast 93 Points  | This deep-hued wine has a bouquet of brambly fruits of the wood, coffee bean and dried sage. It opens with notes of mint and clove accompanied by sturdy tannins and ripe summer cherry, Mission fig, cocoa powder and dried thyme flavors. The lengthy finish is marked with menthol and pomegranate. (2015). 

Robert Parker 92 Points |  There is some more development in the 2015 Finca Valpiedra Reserva, which also feels a little riper, showing the dry, warm and ripe character of the year but keeping a low pH of 3.47 and 6.2 grams of acidity. This is medium-bodied, although some will call them thin—and certainly, they are not full-bodied and round wines, they are sharper. This is a blend of 92% Tempranillo and 4% each Graciano and Maturana Tinta that matured in French oak barrels for 22 months. These wines are feeling a little more traditional than in the past.

Jeio is the Prosecco DOC line from Bisol, one of the Valdobbiadene region’s most storied families — named in honor of Desiderio Bisol, the patriarch whose wife affectionately called him “Jeio.” Desiderio was a visionary: he sought out only the steepest, most difficult-to-farm plots in the region, believing that the challenge of the terrain produced Glera of exceptional quality. His instinct was right. The Glera grown on these high-altitude sites outside Valdobbiadene is especially rich in malic acid, giving the wine a dynamic, evolved character that sets it apart from ordinary Prosecco. Fabrice Pouillon farms his vineyards according to biodynamic principles — a commitment to the land that goes beyond organic certification, working in harmony with natural cycles to produce wines of exceptional purity, vitality, and terroir expression.

The Rosé de Macération is a deeply individual and highly distinctive rosé Champagne made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on clay-limestone soils in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Rather than producing the rosé by blending white Champagne with still red wine — the conventional method — Fabrice allows the freshly pressed juice to remain in contact with the grape skins for up to 12 hours. This short maceration extracts color, aroma, and gentle tannin while preserving the freshness and precision essential to Champagne, giving the wine its distinctive pale ruby color, structure, and expressive red-fruit character.

Fermentation takes place in a combination of traditional enameled tanks and neutral oak barrels. Approximately 80% of the wine is élevaged for eight months, while the remaining 20% is aged for 18 months in neutral oak. The current year's wine is then blended with the longer-aged portion retained from the previous harvest — a thoughtful assemblage that balances the natural tannic structure of a macerated rosé with the softness, complexity, and mellow texture developed through extended aging.

The 2021-base Rosé de Macération is pale ruby-red in the glass. The bouquet is intensely flinty with generous aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, red cherry, citrus peel, dried flowers, spice, and subtle brioche. On the palate, structured and energetic — ripe red-fruit flavors with bright mineral acidity and an emphatic, persistent mousse. Siituated just below premier cru Aux Argillas on the slope in northern Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Bousselots provides an impressive showcase for the vigorous minerality typical of this village. Drag farms a half-hectare parcel of Bousselots that abuts the well-regarded premier cru Les Chaignots to its immediate north, and this bottling possesses a murmuring stony intensity which contrasts the often-floral character of its immediate neighbors. Notes of bright red fruits, warm leather, and dark dust orbit a core of iron-like mineral enormity, and its sinewy, densely concentrated palate promises plenty of positive evolution.

James Suckling writes 93 Points | Hardcore Nuits-Saint-Georges! This has a massive tannin structure, but also good concentration on the full-bodied palate. This has been made for the long term, but the spicy complexity is already exciting, a touch of charcoal character at the long, roasted-meat finish. Best after 2026.

Burghound Allen Meadows writes 89-92 Points | A cool, pure and airy nose features aromas of Granny Smith apple, citrus rind and an appealing floral top note. There is both good volume and a lovely texture to the generously proportioned and stony middleweight flavors that exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced, long and complex finale. This is an excellent Puligny villages, indeed Jobard rarely misses with it.

ROCCAFIORE FIORFIORE GRECHETTO DI TODI 2023 | 750ML

🇮🇹 Italy — Grechetto di Todi | Todi, Umbria

Straw yellow with golden reflections. The nose is generous and expressive — pineapple, golden apple, yellow flowers, and delicate hints of white spice. On the palate it is enveloping, fresh, and sapid, with good minerality and a sleek texture that speaks to both the single-vineyard terroir and the 12 months of amphora aging. A wine of great elegance and complexity, with a drinking window that extends 3–4 years from harvest.

Fiorfiore is produced from a single vineyard of Grechetto di Todi (clone G5) planted in 1990, trained Guyot on whitish clay soils rich in marl, limestone, and chalk. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts; the wine is then aged 12 months in amphora and large Slavonian oak casks on fine lees, with no malolactic fermentation, followed by a minimum of 6 months in bottle before release.

Cantina Roccafiore was established by the Baccarelli family in 1999 on 15 hectares of rolling hills near Todi — the green heart of Umbria. Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points | A bright red color, the 2023 Pinot Noir Roserock Zephirine offers focused and expressive notes of wild raspberries, framboise, rosy perfume, and sweet herbs. Medium-bodied, it has ripe tannins and an approachable feel, with its underlying mineral focus shining through the midpalate and finish. It’s delicious now but will only improve over the next 6-7 years and drink well over the coming 15 years.

Vinous 93 Points | The 2023 Pinot Noir Zéphirine wafts up with an understated blend of dried flowers, spiced citrus and wild strawberries. Barbera, along with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, is widely planted throughout Piemonte. Many Barolo and Barbaresco producers will also make a Barbera mainly because the aging requirement is far shorter allowing them to see a profit from the harvest earlier. In the commune of Nizza, the Barbera grape steps into the spotlight and takes center stage. This is where Barbera reaches its heights of glory.

The Frasca family has 22 hectares of vineyard in Nizza, with vines averaging 30 years of age. Their 2020 Barbera Nizza DOCG opens with an inviting bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, intertwined with notes of violet, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, showcasing intense flavors of ripe black fruits, licorice, and a touch of dark chocolate, balanced by firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and complex, with lingering hints of fruit, spice, and subtle oak nuances.

Assembly of two thirds of white grape freshly pressed and very mature (Ugny Blanc) with a third of one year Cognac, the whole aged in oak cask during five years.

Decanter 96 Points | This wine is among the best village-level Monthelies that I can remember. Coche produces it from his 0.3ha of south-facing vines in the village and some purchased fruit (which accounts for 15% of the total). The super-ripe cherry fruit is adorned with rose petal and licorice notes, and firm tannins and crisp acidity back up the pretty aromas. Perfect for drinking now for the fruit, or for mid-term ageing. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040.

John Gilman 92+ Points | The 2019 Monthélie “Côte de Beaune” from Domaine Coche-Dury is another beautifully sappy bottle in the making, with a more black fruity personality than the Auxey-Duresses. The nose jumps from the glass in an expressive blend of plums, black cherries, espresso, pigeon, bonfire, a lovely base of dark soil tones and a deft touch of new oak. On the e palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already nicely plush on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, fine soil signature, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. Fine, fine juice.

Vinous 91 Points | The 2019 Monthélie Village is a little more backward on the nose compared to the Auxey-Duresses, well defined but just a bit timid at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, nicely structured with dark berry fruit towards the finish. (NM)

At the northern tip of Portugal, where the Minho River forms the border with Spain, a 7.5-hectare family farm has been tended by the Santiago family since 1899. For most of that time, their grapes went to cooperatives. That changed in 2009, when Grandma Mariazinha Santiago — then 86 years old, full of passion and determination — challenged her children and grandchildren to build a boutique winery and prove that world-class Alvarinho and native varietals from Monção could shine on their own. Today, her granddaughter Joana Santiago, a self-described "authentic Minho woman," leads the estate with the same conviction. The Assinatura de Família is their family signature wine — a blend of Arinto, Trajadura, and Loureiro that captures everything the Minho does best.

The 2025 vintage is bright, aromatic, and immediately inviting. The nose offers juicy green apple, zesty citrus, and subtle floral lift from the Loureiro — fresh and precise. Winemaker Description 

At Robert Craig Winery we have always celebrated wines that invite wine lovers into high levels of quality without punitive prices. Such is the case with our “L Fleur” Cabernet Sauvignon that is a blend of young vine lots from our Napa Valley Estate vineyards on Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder along with spectacular fruit from a singular property owned by friends in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. Just as “Flor de Pingus” and La Fleur Petrus are indicative o second tier offerings, so it goes with our La Fleur Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2023 Robert Craig Winery La Fleur Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits deep, saturated color along with spicy, black fruit up front and a sturdy backbone of mineral and tannin. A significant amount of time in new French Oak barrels have rounded out the edges of this young Cabernet and given it a suppleness and integration that can’t be found with less expensive American oak or the dreaded barrel stave flavor treatment.

The name "La Fleur" is a nod to famous "second wines" from Bordeaux (like La Fleur-Pétrus or Flor de Pingus), signaling that while this isn't the primary estate bottling, it shares the same pedigree and winemaking team.

Our La Fleur Cabernet is supple enough to enjoy immediately though it has the structure to benefit from additional cellaring.

VINTAGE

• After a cold wet winter, 2023 developed slowly through a cool, extended season with harvest occurring very late in the year.

• With such mild vintage, the 2023 grapes in Northern California possess terrific nerve and vitality. The vibrant acidity helps to balance the weight and intensity of the fruit with added hang time.

• Harvest ran late September to the end of October

• The rain held off until November allowing the high quality bunches
to be harvested.

Winemaker Description

Hand harvested grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation.

Each variety is vinified separately, and the wine is transferred to French oak barriques (2-3 years old) with a medium toast. The wine ages for 12 months then rests for about 45 days in cement tanks before being bottled without filtration. Released after 3 months in bottle.
