High Elevation Organic Vineyard

50% Malbec, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on a high elevation vineyard (3,900m) with vines ranging from 12 years (Malbec) to 72 years (Cabernet Sauvignon) in sandy/clay soils. The grapes are hand harvested and kept 50% whole cluster, then fermented in stainless steel tanks. All wines are farmed organically and made with no corrections, fermented with native indigenous yeasts, and a low addition of sulfur is added just before bottling.

Alejandro comes from a long background in organic farming, and this is the family's first foray into wine. With an almost Bordeaux-like style, medium to full-bodied richness, present tannins, and a great finish, it's a beautiful, classic Cabernet Sauvignon blend from this team that's going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for two decades or more. High on the hills above the Val di Chiana, the hilltop town of Montepulciano has been shaping Sangiovese — here called Prugnolo Gentile — into something distinctly aristocratic for centuries. Altos de Torona is one of Rías Baixas's most distinctive estates, farming the largest single vineyard in the entire region — 94 hectares of Albaríno vines in the O Rosal subzone, the southernmost and most maritime corner of Galicia. The estate practices sustainable viticulture within a rich biodiversity of over 160 species of flora and fauna, a commitment to the land that translates directly into wines of exceptional purity and terroir expression.

Rías Baixas is Spain's premier white wine appellation, situated on the Atlantic coast of Galicia in northwestern Spain. The O Rosal subzone is particularly prized for its proximity to the sea — the Atlantic influence brings cooling breezes, morning mists, and a natural salinity that gives Albaríno from this area its signature mineral freshness and oceanic character. Albaríno is one of the world's great aromatic white grapes, producing wines of vibrant acidity, generous fruit, and a distinctive saline minerality that makes them among the finest seafood wines on earth.

Winemaker Notes

Our 2019 Research Bianco is a skin-fermented white wine blend in which the proportions and varieties change with each vintage. A good friend supplied the grapes from a "research" vineyard on the East End. All the grapes were grown together (a field blend), hand-picked, de-stemmed, crushed by foot and punched down by hand.

Winemaker Description

Smoke, tar, and char on the nose along with stewed plums, blackberries, and figs. The palate is softer on the tongue than the nose might suggest. Berries and figs come through with a little black pepper and cinnamon. Woody tannins settle into the sides of the tongues and linger a little with a background of umami. Pair with game meats, bbq, honeyed hams, and dark chocolate.

Winemaker Description 

Dark berry and meat flavors carry the day, making it a great match for roasted or braised meat and game. But it also will mesh with and enhance pizza, hearty pasta and most anything made with winter squash.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2014

The Wine Spectator 95+ | The Château Suduiraut 2014 may well be one of the best Sauternes of the vintage. This year, it is a blend of 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc with a healthy 145 grams per liter residual sugar and 4.5 grams per liter total acidity. It needed some coaxing on the nose so I afforded the sample five minutes of rigorous swirling. It was worth the effort as it reveals intense clear honey and mineral scents that possess exquisite definition, one of those aromatics that stop you in your tracks. The palate is clean and fresh with vibrant acidity, great depth and power as it fans out in glorious fashion on the bravura finish. The phrase “It will knock your socks off” comes to mind, so wear a couple of pairs.

The Wine Enthusiast 96 Points | Intense and ripe, this is a superb wine from a top Sauternes estate. It has all the expected elements, including concentrated botrytis and honeyed flavors. Seville orange and lemon notes provide contrast, as does its acidity, which is just as intense as the honey character. It will age well, so drink from 2025.

Decanter 94 Points | Marmalade botrytis and smoke mix with ripe peach and honeyed pineapple. Complex and rich, with mouthcoating flavours of ripe peach, mango, honeycomb and tapioca. A rare unctuous quality for Suduiraut in 2014.

The Wine Advocate 93 Points | Despite a challenging year, half of the crop was lost due to an invasion of Drosophila suzukii, the 2014 Suduiraut is showing very well today, evoking aromas of pineapple, baked white fruits, ripe orchard fruits, lemon and spices. Today, those convicts are celebrated as the founders of a nation — and this Shiraz carries their rebellious spirit. Full and round with bright crimson hues, the wine opens with criminally intense vanilla aromatics balanced by ripe raspberry and plum. On the palate, flavors of raspberries, dark plums, and chocolate are complemented by the vanilla. Red berry fruit and plush tannins provide a lingering finish perfect for any evening.

Vera Vinho Verde Rosé — Vinho Verde DOC, Portugal 2025

In 1991, this house did something no one in the Vinho Verde DOC had ever done: they made a rosé. More than three decades later, Vera remains the original — and the benchmark. The wine is built around Vinhão, a rare tinturier grape (red pulp, not just red skin) that gives the wine its striking deep color and structural backbone. Rabo de Anho — an untranslatable, rarely planted indigenous variety — rounds out the blend, adding lightness, freshness, and a delicate floral lift that keeps everything in balance. At $11.99, it is one of the most distinctive rosés in the shop.

The 2025 vintage is vivid and immediately appealing. The nose opens with fresh strawberry, watermelon, and floral notes — bright and clean.
