Vera Vinho Verde Rosé — Vinho Verde DOC, Portugal 2025

In 1991, this house did something no one in the Vinho Verde DOC had ever done: they made a rosé. More than three decades later, Vera remains the original — and the benchmark. The wine is built around Vinhão, a rare tinturier grape (red pulp, not just red skin) that gives the wine its striking deep color and structural backbone. Rabo de Anho — an untranslatable, rarely planted indigenous variety — rounds out the blend, adding lightness, freshness, and a delicate floral lift that keeps everything in balance. At $11.99, it is one of the most distinctive rosés in the shop.

The 2025 vintage is vivid and immediately appealing. The nose opens with fresh strawberry, watermelon, and floral notes — bright and clean. On the palate it is crisp and lightly effervescent, with juicy red fruit, a whisper of minerality, and a refreshing finish that invites another pour. It drinks like summer in a glass.

Skouras Moscofilero — Peloponnese, Greece 2024

Domaine Skouras is one of the Peloponnese's most respected estates, founded by George Skouras in the 1980s and widely credited with helping to modernize Greek winemaking. Their Moscofilero is a benchmark expression of this extraordinary indigenous grape — grown at high altitude in the Mantinia plateau of the Peloponnese, where cool temperatures preserve the variety's signature floral intensity and natural acidity. Fermented in stainless steel with short skin contact, no malolactic fermentation, and brief aging on fine lees, it is crafted to showcase the grape's pure, aromatic character without interference.

The Millet family founded Domaine La Gemière in 1981 on the slopes of the Loire Valley, and since 2000 siblings Sébastien and Nicolas have carried the tradition forward with a profound respect for their 19-hectare estate. The “La Pointe” parcel sits on Ménetou-Salon’s famous Kimmeridgian limestone soils — the same ancient seabed geology that defines great Sancerre, just a few kilometers to the east. Ménetou-Salon is one of the Loire’s best-kept secrets: a small appellation producing Sauvignon Blanc of genuine mineral character and Sancerre-level quality at a fraction of the price. Grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, with juice flowing by gravity into tank, racked 48 hours later, and aged on lees for 8–9 months for added texture and complexity. 

Pale gold with a green tinge in the glass, with a pronounced, aromatic nose of gooseberry, fresh grass, ripe quince, and a clean mineral lift from the Kimmeridgian limestone. On the palate: crisp and refreshing, with flavors of melon, citrus, and white stone fruit, carried by bright acidity and a clean, mineral finish that lingers. The lees aging adds just enough texture to give the wine real presence without sacrificing freshness. Drink now through 2026. Viña Cobos Felino Chardonnay 2023 is a bright, elegant expression from the high-altitude Uco Valley of Mendoza — one of Argentina's most exciting white wine terroirs. Crafted by Viña Cobos, the celebrated project of Paul Hobbs and the Pepe Galante family, Felino is the estate's approachable entry point: a wine of genuine quality and immediate pleasure, made with the same winemaking philosophy that drives their acclaimed Cobos and Bramare labels.

Pale yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is fresh and inviting, with aromas of pear, green apple, grapefruit, and citrus blossom, lifted by sweet pea and a delicate floral note of Meyer lemon. On the palate, the wine is creamy and broad, with a plush, oily texture and good freshness — only 7% of the wine sees oak, preserving the Uco Valley's natural vibrancy while adding a pleasant depth and a slight toasty nuance on the finish. Crisp acidity keeps everything lively and well-balanced through to the lingering, fruit-driven close.

About Clos des Fous

Clos des Fous ("Enclosure of the Madmen") was founded in 2008 by four friends — including world-renowned terroir expert Pedro Parra — who were tired of hearing that Chilean wine was boring and industrial. They set out to make exciting wines from extreme terroirs with minimal intervention. Pedro holds a Ph.D. in terroir science and consults globally with vignerons like Jean-Marc Roulot.

Founded in 1891, the Brand winery has been producing wine in the Pfalz for five generations. Their vineyards are located on limestone-rich soils around the village of Bockenheim, in the northern part of the region, along the border of the Rheinhessen. Daniel and Jonas' father, Jürgen, always farmed their vines responsibly, but when his children took over, they immediately transitioned to organic viticulture, gaining certification in 2017. The Brothers Brand also utilize biodynamic treatments, always experimenting to discover which practices work best in their vines. All of their wines are made with little, if any, added sulfites. 

Wonderfully aromatic with lively fruit and minerality and a lovely zest and charge on the palate, perfectly balanced by the residual sugar. The Feinherb Riesling has a slight sweetness on the attack, though the sugar melds perfectly into the body, finishing dry and crisp. No fining or filtration and minimal use of sulfur.

19 Crimes celebrates the 19 crimes that once earned British convicts a one-way ticket to Australia. Today, those convicts are celebrated as the founders of a nation — and this Shiraz carries their rebellious spirit. Full and round with bright crimson hues, the wine opens with criminally intense vanilla aromatics balanced by ripe raspberry and plum. Produced from equal parts Pinot Noir and Grolleau, the fruit for this wine comes from Chidaine’s estate-grown, biodynamically farmed vineyards located just north of the Cher River between the villages of Montrichard and Chissay-en-Touraine.
