Producer & Terroir
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley brings generations of Burgundian experience to its Côte Chalonnaise vineyards. Erwan Faiveley and Technical Director Jérôme Flous combine traditional craftsmanship with precise vineyard management, emphasizing purity, balance and elegance.
Champ-Lalot is a 3.99-hectare estate-owned vineyard in Givry with southeastern exposure. Vines principally planted in 1975 and 1979 grow in distinctive loamy soils containing relatively little clay. This mature-vine setting gives Faiveley's Pinot Noir a combination of expressive fruit, floral character and structure.
Winemaker Description
Winemaker's Notes, as supplied in the listing: A beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from Burgundy's charming Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine Faiveley Givry Champ-Lalot Rouge 2023 showcases the elegance, freshness and distinctive personality of mature vines in an exceptional vineyard setting.
Bright ruby-red in color, the wine opens with delicate aromas of spring flowers, violets, fresh raspberries and ripe red cherries. Subtle earthy nuances and gentle spice add complexity to its inviting bouquet.
On the palate, this refined Burgundy reveals vibrant red-fruit flavors, silky texture and beautifully balanced acidity. Fine, polished tannins provide structure without overwhelming the delicate fruit, while subtle mineral and savory notes carry through to a graceful, refreshing finish.
The combination of expressive fruit, floral elegance and natural freshness makes this an exceptionally charming and food-friendly red Burgundy.
Winemaking & Aging
Hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted before traditional Burgundian fermentation. Gentle extraction and controlled temperatures preserve Pinot Noir's delicate aromatics and develop fine tannins. Approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, around 10% new, adds texture and subtle complexity without masking the red fruit and floral notes.
Pairing & Serving
Pair with roasted chicken, duck breast, pork tenderloin, mushroom risotto or grilled veal. Charcuterie, pâté en croûte and soft French cheeses also complement its fresh acidity and refined structure. Serve at 57–61°F (14–16°C).
