Winemaker Description

Overall goals and philosophy of wine: Syrah is a beguiling grape with many expressions in the vinous world, from the gamey classics of France to the inkiness of Australia. In the Finger Lakes, it takes a special site to nurture these beautiful vines to full maturity, but in Glacier Ridge we have found just such a vineyard. With intense Vietnamese peppercorn aromatics, bright red cherry flavors, and a brooding minerality underneath, this Syrah is a pure expression of what can be achieved with one of our favorite grapes in a cool climate. Put simply, think northern Rhone rather than Barossa. 

Notable vineyard management details: Glacier Ridge takes a studied minimalist approach in the vineyard; all weed control is manual and allows for some non-grape vegetation for competition as well as insect biodiversity. Crop size are subsequently lower as a result, with a notable difference in increased ripening capability of the grapes. 

On the sun-warmed shores of the Neusiedlersee in Burgenland, Hannes Schuster tends his organically farmed vineyards with quiet conviction. Sankt Laurent — an ancient variety thought to be a crossing related to Pinot Noir, native to this corner of Austria — finds one of its most honest expressions here. The Klassik is exactly what its name promises: focused, unadorned, and deeply satisfying.

The 2022 arrives brimming with red cherry and wild berry fruit, carrying the earthy, mineral-rich signature of the St. Margarethen soils. The palate is barely medium-bodied yet anything but thin — silky tannins, lively acidity, and a delicate spice thread keep each sip animated through to a long, clean finish. At just 11% alcohol, it drinks with effortless elegance.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged one year in used 500-liter Stockinger barrels, this is a wine made without shortcuts. Drink slightly chilled as an aperitif, or alongside mushroom dishes, charcuterie, roast chicken, or duck confit.

Sourced from certified organic vineyards in the heart of Tuscany and crafted from Sangiovese Grosso — the same noble grape as Brunello di Montalcino — the 2024 delivers uncommon depth and precision for a Rosso. The wine opens with a mentholated freshness and a classic bouquet of cherries, prunes, and floral aromas that open to more sophisticated notes of slate. Winemaker Descrption 

Milan Nestarec Youngster Red is a red natural wine made from a blend of Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dornfelder. The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed. The juice ferments in 2000-liter stainless steel tanks. The wine ferments for about 2 months, with occasional pigeage and indigenous yeast fermentation. Elevage takes place in the same tanks for about 2 months. The wine is bottled unfiltered, unfined, and with zero sulfur added.

The 2023 Rosso di Montalcino is remarkably pretty, captivating with an exotic burst of wildflowers, blood orange and stone dust before giving way to crushed black cherries. This is soft and round yet shows its minerality up front, with a salty tinge emphasizing its ripe wild berry fruit. It finishes with outstanding length and is gently tannic, leaving a red plum concentration. This is a total pleasure to taste. Yields in 2023 were down by 25% due to the peronospora outbreak in the spring. However, the season also blessed this bottling with lower alcohol levels and outstanding freshness.

About Uccelliera

Julien Sunier is one of Beaujolais' most celebrated natural winemakers, known for producing wines of exceptional purity, precision, and terroir expression. Working from his base in the Beaujolais crus, Sunier farms all of his fruit organically and approaches winemaking with a philosophy of minimal intervention — allowing the Gamay grape and the land to speak for themselves. Wild Soul is his ‘anytime red’: a wine conceived for pure, effortless pleasure, and a perfect introduction to his singular style.

The 2024 Wild Soul is sourced from 4.5 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in Régnié, with the addition, for the first time, of some declassified Morgon and Fleurie — making this effectively a Beaujolais Cru blend in all but name. The vineyards sit at high altitude (400 meters), where cooler temperatures and granitic soils produce Gamay of exceptional freshness, aromatic vibrancy, and natural tension.

Vinification follows Sunier's signature approach: cold carbonic maceration without extraction, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and maturation in 3,000-liter foudres on fine lees. Only 10mg/L of SO₂ is added just prior to bottling, and the wine is released unfiltered — preserving every nuance of the fruit and terroir.

The Producer

Badia a Coltibuono is one of Chianti Classico's most storied estates, with roots in an 11th-century monastery in Gaiole in Chianti, dating back to 1051. For six generations the Stucchi Prinetti family has carried that story forward, farming organically for more than 40 years with a deep respect for their land. Their Estate Chianti Classico is a benchmark expression of Sangiovese: honest, structured and unmistakably Tuscan.

The Wine

Sangiovese-led, with small amounts of Colorino, Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo. Expect a bright ruby color with violet highlights and a layered nose of iris, violet, tobacco, black pepper and marasca cherry. The palate is balanced and tightly knit, with crunchy, powdery tannins, juicy acidity and a clean mineral backbone, finishing warm and persistent.

Winemaker Description

This small winery is the project of Sandrino Quadraroli, the owner of one of the finest restaurants in central Marche, Osteria del Borgia. Always a champion of the wines of his region, starting in 2012 he was finally able to crown his dream of producing wine. 

The 4 hectares estate was planted in 1999, upside down Guyot system, on clay, sandy and calcareous soil 500 meters above sea level on the south-facing hills right above lake Caccamo in the township of Serrapetrona located in the mountainous central part of the Marche region. 

The focus of the winery is the grape varietal indigenous to this sub-region: Vernaccia Nera, not found anywhere else in the world. This grape has a long history, however it was traditionally vinified sparkling and semi-sweet, possibly in order to tame the bold characteristics that this varietal has: crushed white and black pepper. Over the past two decades or so, a new generation of wineries in the area is concentrating on exalting the unique character of Vernaccia Nera and are bottling still, dry wines. The results are fascinating: the wines are distinctive, aromatic, full-bodied but elegant and vibrant, with good minerality and refreshing acidity.

From the sun-drenched hillsides of Galilee, Dalton's Alma Crimson is a bold, structured Rhone-style blend that speaks to the ambition of Israeli fine wine. Crafted with meticulous attention, the grapes were harvested and fermented in separate batches to preserve the character of each variety. This new vintage from Camino Romano, is a vintage that has been classified as 'very good' in D.O. Ribera del Duero. Camino Romano has been produced in D.O. Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Dominio Romano.

This wine is a single variety Tinto Fino (100%) grown from a rigorous selection of vines which are between 15 to 30 years old.

As for the production, in order to extract the maximum aromatic potential of the grape, they use "cold soaking", a modern technique that extracts aromas and colour of the wine with little input from the tannins.

Finally, Camino Romano undergoes an aging of 12 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels of 2 and 3 years old.

High up in the foothills of the Sierra de Toloño in Rioja Alavesa, Sandra Bravo works some of the oldest, highest-altitude vineyards in Rioja. The Producer

The partnership between Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and the Catena family took root in 1999. The Catenas brought their knowledge of Mendoza's high-altitude terroirs and their passion for fine Malbec; the Rothschilds brought centuries of skill in growing, vinifying and aging great Cabernet Sauvignon, plus their mastery of blending. Together they created CARO, a union of their famous surnames, Catena and Rothschild, celebrating the fusion of opposites and the greatness that synergy can yield.

Bodegas CARO sources grapes from exceptional sites in the Andean foothills: Luján de Cuyo, part of the "First Zone" where Argentina's first Malbecs were planted, and the Uco Valley. Winemaker Notes

Dark garnet-red in color with distinctive, fine aromas of small fruits, raspberry preserves, roses, and violets, with a delicate herbal note. Full and lively on the palate with tart fruit flavors, elegant tannins, and a lingering aftertaste with traces of prunes and toasty oak.
