Dorothy Arzner made history when she became the first woman to direct a sound film, Manhattan Cocktail in 1928. Her directing career spanned the 1920s to the early 1940s. She launched the careers of many actresses including Katharine Hepburn and Lucille Ball. Later, in her teaching years at UCLA, she taught a young Francis Ford Coppola and gave him the confidence to become a film director. In honor of this free-spirited and independent woman were releasing a 3-year-old straight rye whiskey.

Duncan Taylor was originally based out of Glasgow where they were merchants and brokers of Scotch whisky casks. They have been laying down casks from distilleries all over Scotland for decades and now have one of the largest privately-held collections of rare and vintage Scotch Whisky.

Islay is a great place to make whisky if you were living in the 1800s. Remote but great water and barley. In 1815 Laphroaig was founded by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston. Donald tragically died in 1847 after falling into a vat of hot pot ale at the distillery. It became famous in the early 1900s as it became released as a single malt. It has always been known to produce a heavily peated style.

Named after Master Distiller Emeritus Elmer T. Lee, the man who originated the idea of a single barrel offering by bringing Blanton’s to market. Elmer was an innovator and a truly unique personality in the whiskey world, he was the master distiller for 36 years, before retiring in 1985 and passing in 2013. This whiskey is hand selected and bottled to the taste and standards of the late Elmer T. Lee himself.

Emilio Lustau is one of Jerez’s most celebrated sherry houses — and their approach to Brandy de Jerez is as meticulous as their approach to fino and amontillado. The Solera Reserva is the youngest brandy in the Lustau portfolio, distilled from Airén grapes harvested in central Spain and brought to Jerez for aging in the traditional solera and criadera system — the same method that gives sherry its layered complexity. What sets this brandy apart is the cask seasoning: each barrel was first filled with young Amontillado sherry, which smooths the virgin oak and impregnates the wood with nutty, oxidative character before the brandy ever touches it. Light amber with greenish reflections, the Solera Reserva opens with aromas of vanilla, toasted wood, orange marmalade, and hazelnuts.
