Their Pinot Noir Rosé is a benchmark for the California coastal rosé style: not a simple summer sipper, but a wine of genuine structure and complexity that happens to be pink.
The 2025 pours a delicate, luminous hue. The nose is lifted and aromatic — wild strawberry, rose petal, and a trio of fresh, sweet, and candied ruby grapefruit, underscored by a layer of wet stone minerality that speaks directly to the estate's coastal terroir. Winemaker Description
The 2024 vintage in the Willamette Valley was a winemaker’s dream — cool, well-paced, and ideal for Elk Cove’s six estate vineyard sites: The Winery Estate, Mount Richmond, Five Mountain, Clay Court, Goodrich, and Windhill. A longer harvest window of 40 days allowed each block to receive optimal attention, yielding concentrated, fruit-forward wines with great complexity. The winery considers 2024 a potential classic Willamette Valley vintage.
Made from 100% estate-grown fruit spanning all three major Willamette Valley soil types, with both Pommard and Dijon clones represented. Each vineyard block is fermented separately in small, temperature-controlled steel tanks, hand punched down twice daily, then aged 10 months in French oak before careful blending. Deep garnet red with aromas of black currant, cherry pie filling, cedar, and milk chocolate. A rich and opulent wine offering flavors of dark fruit such as ripe plum, sweet black cherry, and boysenberry with hints of sage and thyme. This wine is bold and well-balanced with supple, refined tannins, and a long satisfying finish.
