Because of the Arinto grape’s natural high acidity, this wine is fantastic for food pairing. Christopher Loewen is one of the Mosel’s most quietly celebrated winemakers — a craftsman who farms organically, ferments with native yeasts in large Fuder casks without temperature control, and lets each wine find its own expression. The Estate Riesling comes entirely from the Liewener Klostergarten, a site with richer soils than Loewen’s steep single-vineyard parcels, formerly bottled as a Kabinett and now declassified to “Estate” to preserve the single-vineyard designation for the estate’s highest-quality expressions. Whole-cluster pressed, fermented spontaneously, and stopped by taste — this is Riesling made with the patience and instinct of a true artisan.

Le Difese is the second wine of Sassicaia — and that pedigree means everything. Tenuta San Guido is the legendary Bolgheri estate that created the Super Tuscan category, producing one of Italy’s most celebrated wines in Sassicaia. Le Difese is crafted from the estate’s younger vines using the same philosophy and the same winemaking team: fermentation on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by 8 months of maturation in French and American oak barrels. Domaine William Fèvre’s Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2023 is one of the estate’s most elegant and sophisticated expressions of Grand Cru Chablis. Les Preuses is celebrated for producing wines of exceptional finesse—combining the concentration expected from a Grand Cru with remarkable freshness, floral complexity and an unmistakable mineral character.

William Fèvre owns approximately 2.5 hectares in Les Preuses, divided between two distinct parcels. One lies on the flatter, south-facing portion of the vineyard, while the second is planted on deeper soils. Together they create a wine that beautifully balances richness and texture with the tension, precision and minerality for which the climat is renowned.

The vineyard’s clay-rich soils over limestone help retain moisture while maintaining excellent drainage, contributing both concentration and freshness. William Fèvre’s restrained approach in the cellar, including careful use of older French oak, keeps the vineyard firmly at the center of the wine.

Lucien Le Moine is the tiny Beaune-based micro-négociant founded by Mounir Saouma and Rotem Brakin in 1999. The house specializes in Premier and Grand Cru Burgundy, generally producing only one to three barrels of each individual Cru.

The wines are selected very early, immediately after pressing, and raised entirely by Lucien Le Moine through bottling. Both whites and reds are aged on 100% of their lees, with gentle bâtonnage when appropriate and no racking during élevage. The wines are bottled by gravity and are neither fined nor filtered, preserving their texture, complexity and individual vineyard character.

The single square mile of hillside pioneered by Peter Newton in 1977 is an impressive site, with expansive vistas of Napa Valley and beyond.
