Expert Review 

The Dalmore 12 is recognized as a whisky with character far beyond its age. The spirit is initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, yielding soft vanilla and honey notes. A proportion of the spirit is then finessed in pinnacle Sherry casks, including 30-Year Old Matusalem Oloroso casks, exclusive to The Dalmore, to give the whisky a rich, nutty character.

Hailing from the tropical shores of Goa, this exotic Indian single malt, in rich shades of dark copper, has complex aromas of fig and apricot with a rare hint of banana. On the palate are tremendous flavours of sweet barley with creamy butterscotch, dry fruits and a profuse Christmas cake. The finish is long and exquisite, with delectable chocolate fudge, delicate orange peel and hints of exotic wine drenched nuts. Much of The intrinsic characteristics of the Paul John PX owes allegiance to the famed intensely sweet and dark Spanish dessert sherry, having been gloriously finished in handpicked Pedro Ximenez casks. The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve starts its journey in the finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The precious liquid is then split equally with half of the whisky remaining in the American white oak and the remainder transferred to aged Tawny Port pipes from W & J Graham’s vineyard in Portugal. They are then married back together to harmonize the flavors before bottling. Purposefully retained at 46.5% ABV to complement the enticing warm flavors of the Port and the classic taste of The Dalmore creating a whisky which is indulgent, smooth and complex.

A deep, dark golden brown color. Aromas of oak, dark chocolate, cream, dry seeds, walnut and Christmas cake. The palate is smooth, sweet and smoky note, round and full bodied. The finish offers a soft burn with citrus, spices and sweet oak.

The Joel Richard Escencia is 100% pure Colombian rum, aged in used American oak bourbon barrels for 25 years. Fermented from pressed sugar cane juice for a distinctive style. Once the fermentation is complete 70% has been distilled in a continuous column and 30% in an alembic pot. This combination is a great balance between complexity and smoothness.

To create The Balvenie PortWood, rare 21 year old Balvenie which has been matured in traditional oak casks is transferred to a port cask, or pipe, which has held fine port wines. This third iteration of Dewar's 19 Year Old is aged in Red Wine casks from Napa Valley, honoring both the LACC and the terroir of the 2023 championship in California, producing a smooth and complex whisky. Notes of red berries and black cherries resolve into a rich and fruity finish with a hint of nutmeg.
