Vinous 92 Points Eric Guido | More savory than sweet and wonderfully complex, the 2019 Brut Rosé North Coast bursts from the glass with toasty notes of fresh baguette and almonds, giving way to crushed apples and gingery spice. This rushes the palate with an elegant bead of silken bubbles. It is creamy yet energetic, and mineral-tinged orchard fruits add further tension. The 2019 leaves the senses wonderfully refreshed through the long, crunchy finale, as white strawberry and spice cookie notes fade. Schramsberg Vineyards Brut Rosé — North Coast, California 2020

Schramsberg Vineyards has been crafting California’s finest Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wines since 1965, and their Brut Rosé is one of the most celebrated bottles in the American sparkling canon — a wine served at White House state dinners and beloved by sommeliers and collectors alike. The 2020 is a blend of 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay, sourced from coastal vineyards stretching from southern Mendocino to northern Marin County. A portion of the Pinot Noir is fermented on its skins to add depth and subtle color, before the finished blend undergoes a second fermentation in bottle and approximately two years of aging on its yeast lees.

The result is a sparkling wine of real generosity and precision: fragrant, vibrant, and steely at the core. The nose offers raspberry, rose petal, and gingerbread, with fine, persistent bubbles and a fresh aromatic lift. On the palate, the wine is rich and complex — bright red fruit and spice from the Pinot Noir, structure and length from the Chardonnay — finishing long, zesty, and beautifully balanced. Within the Scielo line RGMX has a set of monvarietal wines that they age for 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, and the “R.3” is the 100% Syrah. This wine along with its cohorts in the reserva line are excellent windows into the expression of each grape variety that plays a partial role in their other blends. This Syrah is all spice, blueberry skin and plum on the nose with the elements coming from the barrels already well integrated into the overall composition. In the mouth it displays bright acidity in the mouth and notes of green peppercorn, Italian plum, clove and with mid weight - not something that’s easy to achieve with this grape variety. It’s drinking like a song right now, but it will evolve for a decade or more in the bottle.

Tim Atkin, MW 90 Points | Secateurs is one of the South African wine industry’s best calling cards, a large volume Chenin Blanc that could only be produced in the Cape. Aged in foudres, it has a stony top note, deftly judged flavors of peach, pear and pink grapefruit, good palate weight and a bright, tangy finish. Hugely drinkable.

Secateurs – a type of scissors for use on plants. These dry farmed bushvines were planted in the 1960s and 1970s. Fermented and settled in concrete, older casks, and big foudres. Textured, flinty, orange blossom.

Falstaff 92 Points | Bright, radiant ruby red. Elegant nose, reminiscent of cut flowers, raspberry and some paprika powder. Delicate, youthful on the palate, with a pleasant acidity. The finish is long and mineral. Clean mouthfeel. 

Seghesio Family Vineyards is one of California's most storied Zinfandel producers, with roots in Sonoma County stretching back to 1895 when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first vines in the Alexander Valley. Vinification follows Seghesio's classic approach: careful fermentation to extract the full depth of the Zinfandel fruit while preserving the variety's characteristic spice and briar character. The wine is aged in oak to develop structure and complexity before blending and bottling.

The 2023 opens with a complex bouquet of blackberry, black currant, plum, cherry, and baking spice, with notes of raspberry, savory anise, and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is lively and full-flavored, with succulent fruit, supple tannins, and a long, gratifying finish with a characteristic snap of briar and pepper. An old-school Zinfandel loaded with zest and personality.

Gold colour. On the nose, it is fresh with a nice combination of fruit, mineral and floral nuances. Elegant and refreshing, it is straightforward and concentrated. It first develops aromas of ripe fruit and then finishes on delicate mineral and lively notes. The wine shows great purity.

The aromas on the nose are fresh, ranging from white fruit such as pear and apple, to tropical fruit like pineapple and plum.

Fresh and indulgent opening, with a tasteful balance between sweetness and acidity and fruity notes of acidic and white fruit appear in the finish.

Pairs with exotic flavors such as Thai Tom Yum soup, Peruvian sea-bass ceviche, Mexican quesadillas or Labneh and Tahini served with pita bread. Also, with traditional ham and cheese French omelet, buttered grilled corn on the cob, chicken pie, or wild mushroom risotto and even dessert like tarte Tatin or crema catalana.

Sella & Mosca is Sardinia's most storied and important winery, founded in 1899 near Alghero in the northwest of the island. With over 500 hectares under vine, it is one of Europe's largest single-estate wineries — and its Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva is the benchmark expression of the island's most celebrated indigenous red grape. Cannonau — known on the mainland and in France as Grenache — has been grown in Sardinia for centuries and thrives in the island's sun-drenched, wind-swept terrain. The 2021 pours a ruby red with garnet hues, translucent and brilliant. Señorío de Líbano | Castillo de Sajazarra | Rioja Reserva DOCa | Rioja Alta, Spain | 2019

Bodegas Señorío de Líbano is headquartered in the picturesque medieval village of Sajazarra — a true gem of a town in the Rioja Alta, the most prestigious sub-zone of Spain's most celebrated wine region. Rioja Alta's higher altitude, cooler temperatures, and clay-limestone soils produce wines of exceptional structure, elegance, and longevity — the hallmarks of great Rioja Reserva.

The Castillo de Sajazarra Reserva is a classic Rioja blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Garnacha, aged 24 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging before release. This extended aging regime — the minimum for Reserva classification — allows the wine to develop the secondary and tertiary complexity that defines great Rioja at its best.

The 2019 is a deep, pillory red with violet reflections. James Suckling 96 Points | A vibrant, agile and poised Chardonnay with aromas of pears, apples, sweet spices, jasmine and hints of stones. It’s medium- to full-bodied with precise definition on the palate. Fresh acidity and crunchy fruity at the center and a velvety touch to the edge, bringing volume and a voluptuous character throughout. Lively and long finish.

Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points | I love the 2022 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch. It's a richer, broad, yet still fresh and lively Chardonnay with ripe citrus and pineapple fruits, medium to full body, a layered mouthfeel, and terrific toast, brioche, honeysuckle, and lemon oil aromatics. It will keep for 4-6 years, if not longer, but I love it today.

2019 embodies classic Hillside Select richness, vibrancy, and balance. The aromas push out of the glass, offering black cherry, cedar, cassis, and juicy red summer berries with lifted floral tones. Even at this youthful age, the complexity of the vintage is striking, merging dark fruit with tobacco, espresso, black olive, red plum, and black tea. The expansive mid-palate is complemented by ripe integrated tannins that add depth and structure, culminating in a long, profound finish.

98+ Points Jeb Dunnuck | The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is another magical vintage for this cuvée. All Cabernet Sauvignon from hillside vineyards on the eastern side of Stags Leap, it offers a vivid purple hue as well as extraordinary notes of cassis, black raspberries, violets, camphor, and spring flowers, with perfectly integrated background oak. Full-bodied but not massive, it’s flawlessly balanced on the palate and has ultra-fine tannins, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, and a great, great finish. It’s another 30- to 40-year wine from this incredible team that readers will absolutely love. (2019).

98+ Points Robert Parker | Sourced from specific blocks of estate-grown fruit, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is another highly successful vintage. All Cabernet Sauvignon aged 32 months in 100% new French oak, it boasts intense aromas of pencil shavings, dark loam, cassis and plum on the nose, while the palate is full-bodied, super-ripe, rich, dense and concentrated—a truly impressive California vin de garde. Tannic but ripe, it finishes long and firm on the finish, adding a hint of mocha. To be released in September 2023, it's a strong showing and hopefully an indication that quality will remain high under the new ownership. (2019).

98 Points Vinous | The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is one of the most elegant wines I have tasted at Shafer. Effusive aromatics and silky tannins are immediately captivating. Crushed red/purplish berry fruit, mint, spice, lavender and licorice are all finely knit. We will see, but the 2019 may very well represent a new direction for Hillside Select, one of Napa Valley's most iconic Cabernets. (2019).

The Estate Pinot Noir is sourced from throughout Shea Vineyard, one of the most iconic vineyards in Oregon. The Whiskey Advocate 91 Points | Rademon Estate Distillery’s superb core whiskey has a nose of rye crackers, fresh oak, vanilla sponge, honey, bread crust, sultana, and golden syrup. It’s light to medium-bodied, with honey, cinnamon, and a big hit of rye spice, sweetening with vanilla, spun sugar, and golden syrup, setting up a push and pull between the rye and the sweet notes, before a finish of toffee, cinnamon, cinder toffee, and walnuts in syrup.

This carefully crafted Rye and Malt edition of Shortcross Irish Whiskey has been proudly distilled, matured and bottled at Rademon Estate Distillery.  This is our second release of whiskey, following our first release Inaugural single malt whiskey. Created with a unique mash bill of 100% Irish malted rye and malted barley.

This whiskey is highly regarded because it's part of a new wave of innovative Irish whiskeys, blending the traditional Irish style with the bold character of American rye.

This whiskey has been double distilled on our copper pot stills, including one of the smallest whiskey stills on the island of Ireland. Aged in a combination of virgin chinkapin oak and ex-bourbon barrels. Non-chill filtered all natural colour.
