The Gelin family invested in a larger, more efficient winery, which was upgraded and ready for the 2011 harvest. “The new winery allows us more flexibility during harvest, as well as the technology to increase wine quality,” says Pierre-Emmanuel. The wines of Domaine Pierre Gelin have always been de-stemmed with a long cuvaison of 8-10 days and a judicious use of oak. Only indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation which takes place in stainless-steel and oak tanks. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel and the wines are aged for 20-24 months in varying percentages of new oak: up to 80% new oak for the Grand Cru, and 25% new for the premier crus. They use older barrels for village wines.

Tinto Rey means Red King. Tempranillo is the king of Spanish red wines, the most important varietal in our Matchbook Vineyard and the foundation of this unique Tempranillo/Syrah blend. 

The aromas of our 2022 Tinto Rey are pure Spain in a glass: dark chocolate and earth and dusty cellar. The flavors are dense and complex with cedar and mocha layered over dried blueberry, poached fig and baking spices. A hint of eucalyptus hangs in the background. The finish is smooth with a balanced grip of tannins; silk with a backbone. This full-bodied red wine will pair well with the best cuts of meat.

The Wine Spectator 92 Points |  A Zesty and vibrant yet slightly brooding at the core, with expressive flavors of blackberry and cherry highlighted by licorice and fruitcake spices as this builds structure toward full-bodied tannins. Drink now through 2032.

Intense ruby red colour. An intense and fruity bouquet. More evident are the accents of mature red fruit, cherries and blackberries. Achille is very round, sweet and soft in the mouth which make is so delicious and easy to drink. The finish is characterized by a persistent flavor, a very inviting wine.

Light to moderate tannins. Light-bodied, dry, black currant, black cherry, plum, and cassis with good mouthfeel fades with dry, dark fruit and finishes with dry, mild tannin. The fruit fades quickly and the body and tannin much slower.

International Wine Report - 95 points - The IV Montem Soils series is a special bottling of 7 different wines chosen from the 12 acres of the Fidelitas Estate to showcase the highest quality wines of the vintage. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc makes up the 2021 IV Montem Soils Red Wine from Fidelitas. Pouring a brooding deep purple core with a fluorescent purple rim, this tight-young wine has a ton of promise in the glass. Bountiful notes of black plums, black and red currants, tobacco leaf, cassis, sweet tangerine zest, dried mountain sage, eucalyptus, and sweet clove. Acidity falls in the moderate plus range, alongside tight tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Give this one another 2 years before you open it up for best results.

Our Riviera Pinot Noir is a testament to the distinctive terroir of the Sonoma Coast AVA, celebrated for its brisk maritime breeze and oceanic influence. The 2022 vintage benefitted from ideal climatic patterns, fostering a leisurely maturation of the grapes and a nuanced flavor profile. Each batch of Pinot Noir is matured in an assortment of new and seasoned French oak barrels, with only the superior barrels chosen for the final blend, yielding a harmonious fusion of flavors. The Riviera boasts a profile of deep berry tones, including cherry and raspberry, enriched by delicate vanilla and oak nuances, all counterpoised by lively acidity and a smooth, silky mouthfeel.

The Wine Advocate 90 Points | Made up of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Syrah and 1% Cabernet Franc, the Salvestrin  Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of cassis, earth, red and black cherries, sage and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied and chewy with an herbal lift....Salvestrin can boast multiple generations farming its vineyards since 1932, so this is by no means a newcomer to the Napa Valley wine scene. These wines never seem to get old, and this will be one our grandchildren can enjoy circa 2050."

A single-vineyard wine, Vinha de São Lázaro owes its name to the small 13th century chapel located in the vineyard that is dedicated to Saint Lazarus, protector of the sick and needy. 

Touriga Nacional is a great pairing for any meat dish. In this particular wine, as it is very delicate and full bodied, it is ideal with a lamb tagine, or any variety of matured meats.

The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and clean flavors, sleek and polished with good freshness and fruity flavors in the finish.

Allen Meadows Burghound 87-89 Points |  Firm reduction buries the fruit. Otherwise, there is equally good freshness and energy to the succulent and fleshy, if not especially dense, flavors that conclude in a firm and mildly rustic though nicely persistent finale.

Pale ruby in colour, with a nose that subtly blends violets and very ripe red berry fruits. On the palate, seductive velvety elegance overlays an attractive weave of fine tannins, highlighting the minerality of the terroir.

Very steady intensity and depth, with fruit soaked, granular tannins. Pleasantly fresh at the finish. Aged in concrete. Co-fermented on the skins. A blend of 42% shiraz, 36% cinsaut, 13% grenache noir, 6% tinta barocco and 3% touriga nacional. Best after 2024.
