Domaine Arlaud Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots Biodynamic 2023 750ml

Vinous 93 Points | The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cry offers the most transparency on the nose among Arlaud's Morey Premier Crus, with intense, well-defined blackberry and raspberry fruit and fine mineralite. The medium-bodied palate features pliant tannins and commendable depth, though it may not reach the complexity of the Aux Chesaux or Blanchards on the finish. Give this two or three years in the bottle.

"A fine even purple. The bouquet is beautifully, florally, perfumed. This seems to be one of the riper wines but still has the quintessential cool balance of an Arlaud wine. Heady roses, with a ripe raspberry underlay. The acidity is sufficiently present and the tannins refined A long, supple finish. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Dec 2024."

Domaine Bruno Clair Chambertin Clos De Beze Grand Cru 2020 750ml

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020

Burghound 93 Points |  Here too the restrained if wonderfully broad nose is gloriously spicy if perhaps not quite as floral on the mostly dark berry fruit scents. There is the same lovely purity and excellent energy of the Clos St. Jacques but with more size, weight and power and particularly so on the hugely long and more complex finish. However, this is also more structured and overall, it's likely that this will require fully 20 years to reach its full maturity. *Burghound Don't Miss!*

Decanter 97 Points | The colour is deep in 2020, with ripe plum and cherry fruit scented with spice and minerals rolling from the glass on the initial attack. The texture on the palate is concentrated but never heavy, with tannic reserves that suggest that this will age for decades. Superb. One of the great treasures of the house, Clair has nearly one hectare here, planted in 1912. The fruit is is chilled after picking and the fermentation starts slowly, with about 30% whole clusters. (Charles Curtis)

Vinous 96 Points | The 2020 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a fabulous, pixelated bouquet with ebullient, brambly red fruit interlaced with minerals. Real pedigree here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy, saline entry. Great depth, cohesive with just the right amount of salinity. This lingers long in the mouth. Irresistible, surfeit with class. (NM)

Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru 2020 750ml

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020

Burghound 93 Points | (From Les Cruots which is also known as Vignes Blanches). Touches of bitter chocolate and kirsch are present on the spicy aromas of plum, violet and soft wood. The finer if not denser flavors possess a velvety texture while also coating the palate with dry extract on the dusty and chalky finish that is likewise youthfully austere. I very much like the depth and persistence and this beauty should also age gracefully for as long as most anyone would like.

Barrel Sample: 93-96 Decanter 97 Points | A very elegant expression of Echezeaux, with a velvety black plum and rose petal fruit. There is a lovely freshness and so much finesse that the tannin and structure might surprise you at the end. This has the substance to age for decades. Produced from a 0.84ha parcel in Cruots next to Comte Liger-Belair. The vines were planted in 1954 and the destemmed fruit was gently fermented.

Barrel Sample: 97Vinous 92 Points | The 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru offers mulberry sous-bois and very subtle star anis aromas on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins quite taut and fresh linear at the moment with touches of blood orange and Clementine towards the finish. Give this several years in bottle. (Drink between 2027-2055).

Ca' del Bosco Cuvée Prestige 48th Edition Brut Franciacorta NV 750ml

Ca' del Bosco | Cuvée Prestige 48th Edition | Brut | Franciacorta DOCG | NV

Franciacorta is Italy’s most serious answer to Champagne — made by the traditional method, from the same grapes (Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco), with the same extended lees aging, and with the same ambition for complexity and finesse. Ca’ del Bosco is the house that built the category’s reputation. Founded in the 1960s in Lombardy’s lake district, it remains the benchmark producer — meticulous in the vineyard, exacting in the cellar, and consistent across every edition of its flagship Cuvée Prestige. The 48th Edition spends a minimum of 24 months on the lees, building the fine, persistent mousse and the toasted brioche character that define the house style. The result is a wine of genuine elegance: ripe peach and apple on the nose, layered with buttery brioche, butterscotch, and a subtle mineral thread. The palate is rich yet precise, with a creamy texture and a long, clean finish. Exceptional as an aperitif, and equally at home alongside a celebratory meal.

  • Appellation: Franciacorta DOCG, Lombardy, Italy
  • Blend: Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco
  • Method: Traditional method (Metodo Classico)
  • Lees Aging: Minimum 24 months
  • Edition: 48th
  • Dosage: Brut
  • Format: 750ml
Tasting Notes

Ripe peach, apple, and toasted brioche on the nose with notes of butterscotch and a subtle mineral thread. Rich, creamy palate with a fine, persistent mousse and a long, clean finish.

Pairing Suggestions
  • Aperitivo: Prosciutto, grana padano, or light antipasti.
  • Seafood: Risotto ai frutti di mare, grilled langoustines, or seared scallops.
  • Celebration: A versatile companion for any occasion that calls for bubbles.

Domaine Meo Camuzet Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2021 750ml

Expert Review
96 points Tim Atkin |  With 3 hectares, Méo-Camuzet is the second largest proprietor in this Grand Cru after Château de la Tour. There's a good chunk near the château as well as a smaller part in Le Grand Maupertui. The 80% new oak stands out now, both with toasted spice lift and lightly grainy tannins. Granted, there's no rush; at the domaine, they don't start drinking this until eight years post-vintage. In time, the robust and concentrated black fruit core will easily absorb the wood. 2028-45.

93-95 points Jasper Morris | A medium crimson purple in colour. The bouquet is attractive rather than massive. Lovely cherry fruit right through the middle then a firmer finish as the natural tannins of the Clos kick in. Proper length here as well. Drink from 2030-2038.

Burghound |  Note: from a huge 3 ha parcel superbly placed high on the slope, across from the Château that is mostly in the lieu-dit of Chioures with a small parcel in Grand Maupertui. A restrained if really pretty nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its combination of cool earth, red berries and herbal tea hints. The medium weight flavors are not particularly dense, but they do possess both a really lovely texture as well as fine precision that carries over to the saline, youthfully austere and superbly long finish. Moreover, there is already first-rate depth and overall, this beauty is very promising.

93-94 points John Gilman | The 2021 Clos Vougeot was showing lovely complexity on the nose, but was a bit reticent on the palate. If this turns out to be a result of its recent racking, then my score will be a tad conservative. The bouquet is certainly lovely, wafting from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, gamebird, cloves, nutmeg, a good base of soil tones and spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, soil-driven and complex, with a good core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and fairly closed finish. 2035-2085.

93 points Decanter | This wine is surprisingly accessible, with a charming, bright pomegranate and ripe cherry fruit, and rose petal, pepper and mineral notes. The texture is silky and fresh – it lacks the imposing density of some years (like 2020), but it is beautiful nonetheless. Méo has 2.75 hectares, second only to Château de la Tour, and the parcels are very well placed in La Garenne (which he calls Pres du Château), Les Chioures, and Grand Maupertuis. The 2021 vintage is a blend of all of the parcels.

91-93 Points Wine Advocate | The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more structured, unwinding in the glass with aromas of smoky berries, sweet spices, plums and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the saline finish, it's one 2021 that will reward a bit of patience.

Jancis Robinson | Real depth and interest and a wine I was forced(!) to swallow. Long and rich and exciting with minty notes.

Domaine de Villaine Rully Rouge 1er Cru Champs Cloux Biodynamic 2020 750ml

Expert Review

Allan Meadows  of Burghound writes 91 Points | Bright red and dark berry fruit aromas are nuanced by notes of spice, earth and plenty of floral nuances, especially violet. The rich, concentrated and palate coating medium weight flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract that buffers the firm tannins supporting the elegant yet powerful finish. At least some patience is strongly recommended. I would note that this example showed markedly better than one from last year, in fact so much so that I have no explanation.

Burghound 93 Points | Ultra-spicy red and black berry aromas combine with those of jasmine tea, violet, star anise and discreet oak. The succulent, rich and delicious flavors possess excellent volume and mid-palate density while exhibiting a subtle minerality on the firm, serious and built-to-age finale that also flashes a touch of warmth. This is terrific and in 2019 it is a bit more elegant than usual.

Scharffenberger Brut Excellence Methode Traditionelle Mendocino County NV 750ml

Scharffenberger Brut Excellence | Méthode Traditionnelle | Mendocino County, California

A benchmark California sparkling wine crafted in the traditional méthode champenoise, bottle-fermented and aged a minimum of 24 months on the lees. The blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir draws from Scharffenberger's own 120-acre Anderson Valley vineyards and select long-term Mendocino County contracts — a pedigree that shows in every pour.

The nose opens with toasted brioche, crème caramel, Asian pear, and honeysuckle, layered with hazelnut and candied citrus. On the palate, a creamy, fine-bubbled mousse gives way to bright orchard fruit — yellow apple, white fig, apricot — framed by lip-smacking acidity and a long, nutty finish. 100% malolactic fermentation adds a round, full-bodied texture that punches well above its price point.

  • Appellation: Mendocino County, California
  • Blend: 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir
  • Method: Méthode Traditionnelle (Champenoise)
  • Aging: Minimum 24 months on the lees
  • Dosage: ~8 g/L
  • Size: 750ml
Critical Acclaim
  • Jeb Dunnuck — 93 pts: Impressive depth of texture and balanced richness; lovely notes of crème caramel and brioche.
  • The Tasting Panel — 93 pts: Remarkable value with the poise and presence of wines twice the price; lilting, lip-smacking acidity and a creamy tang.
  • Decanter — 92 pts: Riveting aromatics of brioche, crème brûlée, and candied citrus; broad and mouth-filling with a crisp, layered finish.
  • James Suckling — 92 pts: Solid core of fruit with apple, strawberry, and hints of iron and salt; tensioned and full of flavor.

Domaine Coche Dury Monthelie Rouge 2019 750ml

Expert Review - Vintage 2019

Decanter 96 Points | This wine is among the best village-level Monthelies that I can remember. Coche produces it from his 0.3ha of south-facing vines in the village and some purchased fruit (which accounts for 15% of the total). The super-ripe cherry fruit is adorned with rose petal and licorice notes, and firm tannins and crisp acidity back up the pretty aromas. Perfect for drinking now for the fruit, or for mid-term ageing. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040.

John Gilman 92+ Points | The 2019 Monthélie “Côte de Beaune” from Domaine Coche-Dury is another beautifully sappy bottle in the making, with a more black fruity personality than the Auxey-Duresses. The nose jumps from the glass in an expressive blend of plums, black cherries, espresso, pigeon, bonfire, a lovely base of dark soil tones and a deft touch of new oak. On the e palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already nicely plush on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, fine soil signature, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. Fine, fine juice.

Vinous 91 Points | The 2019 Monthélie Village is a little more backward on the nose compared to the Auxey-Duresses, well defined but just a bit timid at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, nicely structured with dark berry fruit towards the finish. (NM)

Domaine Francois Lamarche Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2021 750ml

Expert Review

Burghound | Note: from 3 different parcels measuring 1.36 ha, two at the bottom in Baudes Basses and another at the top in Montiotes Hautes Moderate reduction dominates the fruit though there is a lovely sense of underlying tension and freshness to the succulent, palate coating and powerful medium weight flavors that also conclude in a chalky, sappy and lingering finale. This is also going to need at least some patience as it's presently quite tightly wound.

Veuve Clicquot ROSE NON VINTAGE Brut Champagne 750ml

Veuve Clicquot Rosé Non-Vintage Brut | Champagne, France | 750ml | 12% ABV

The Rosé Non-Vintage is Veuve Clicquot's answer to a perennial question: how do you make a Champagne that is both immediately pleasurable and unmistakably serious? The answer lies in the house's signature approach — a blend anchored by Pinot Noir, enriched with still red wine for color and depth, and built on the same structural backbone that defines the Yellow Label.

The result is a Champagne of luminous pale salmon, generous on the nose with fresh red fruit — raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry — giving way to biscuity notes of dried fruit and Viennese pastry.

On the palate, the attack is fresh and focused, the texture silky, the finish long and harmonious. It is, in the best sense, a Champagne that earns its elegance.

Crafted from 50 to 60 different crus, the blend runs 50–55% Pinot Noir, 15–20% Pinot Meunier, and 28–33% Chardonnay, with approximately 12% still red wine integrated for structure and hue.

Domaine Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées 2022 750ml

Domaine Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées — Burgundy 2022

Les Fuées is one of Chambolle-Musigny's 24 Premier Cru vineyards, distinguished by chalky soil over hard bedrock and an eastern exposure that imparts a signature mineral precision. Jadot's 2022 is a textbook expression of the site — feminine, elegant, and layered, with fine tannins and a core of red and dark fruit framed by spice, violet, and exotic tea. Fermented in vats for up to four weeks and aged 18–20 months in oak, this is a wine built for the cellar: 15–20 years of development potential. James Suckling awarded it 96 points, calling it “outstanding.”

The nose is fragrant and cool: flowers, ripe plums, blood orange, cinnamon, exotic tea, and peonies. On the palate, medium to full body with velvety, saturated tannins and a succulent core of red and dark currant. The concentration is effortlessly offset by spicy acidity, fanning out on a long, mineral-driven finish of remarkable purity and tension. In a word, classy.

James Suckling 96 • Vinous 94 • Wine Advocate 94 • Burghound 92

Critical Acclaim - Vintage 2022

James Suckling — 96 Points
"This big and at first subtle wine opens with fragrant flowers, ripe plums and cinnamon, fills the palate with richness on a full body, but then tightens up on the finish to show it has the structure to age well. Outstanding wine to drink now."
Vinous Media — 94 Points
"The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru, which Frédéric Barnier said suffered less during the growing season, is a conspicuous step up in complexity from the Les Baudes: much more mineralé and precision, far more terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, the concentration effortlessly offset by the spice of acidity. It's quite spicy as it fans out on the finish. Excellent."
The Wine Advocate — 94 Points
"The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées (Domaine Louis Jadot) is excellent, mingling aromas of sweet red berries with notions of blood orange, spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's deep and layered, with a succulent core of fruit and attractive purity and tension."
Burghound (Allen Meadows) — 92 Points
"This is aromatically quite cool and fresh as well as appealingly elegant on the mix of red and dark currant, exotic tea and violet-scented nose. The sleek, intense and succulent medium weight flavors aren't particularly concentrated yet the sap still manages to coat the palate on the lingering and balanced bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that is almost aggressively mineral-driven. This is a lovely and well-balanced Fuées with fine development potential, which is just as well as it does need to develop better depth. In a word, classy."

Lallier Champagne Brut Réflexion R.021 750ml

Lallier Brut Réflexion R.021 — Aüy-en-Champagne, France

The Brut Réflexion R.021 is the signature non-vintage cuvée of Lallier — a grower-focused Champagne house based in Aüy-en-Champagne, one of the appellation's most prized Grand Cru villages. Blended from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier, the R.021 is built on the house's philosophy of precision and transparency: each release is numbered to reflect the blend year, and each bottle is crafted to express the purity of the terroir rather than the weight of oak or dosage. James Suckling awarded it 92 points. Restrained, citrusy, and beautifully precise.

The nose opens with vibrant lime and mandarin, lifted by elegant floral touches and mature hints of brioche and fresh hazelnut. On the palate, the mousse is frothy and light-bodied with remarkable purity and freshness — a delicate salty sensation balanced by the structure of Pinot Noir and the soft roundness of Meunier. The finish is long, deep, and aromatic, with a youthful crispness that rewards both immediate drinking and short-term cellaring.

“Restrained and citrusy with lemon peel and stone fruit. Slightly toasty with a leafy touch. Quite frothy bubbles with light body, a substantial palate and a crisp finish, precise and youthful.” — James Suckling, 92 Points (2021)
  • Producer: Lallier, Aüy-en-Champagne, France
  • Release: R.021 (Non-Vintage)
  • Appellation: Champagne AOC — Grand Cru

  • Best Paired With: Oysters, grilled fish, soft cheeses, charcuterie, or as a refined aperitif

A 92-point Grand Cru Champagne built on precision and terroir — Lallier's Brut Réflexion is the benchmark for what grower-focused, non-vintage Champagne can be.

Defaix Rully Rouge 2022 (Pre-Sale - May 15, 2026)

This 100% Pinot Noir is hand sorted, destemmed, and aged in used oak for 12 months.  This is a friendly red with loads of sunny, delicious red fruit, delicate whispers of smoke, and unmistakable Burgundian minerality.  The tannins are present but fine, making the wine super approachable.  This is the kind of red I would enjoy sipping by a crackling fire, reading a Victorian novel.  This would pair beautifully with rabbit, venison, duck, or anything mushroom.

A classic Côte Chalonnaise Pinot Noir that overdelivers for the price, the 2022 Defaix Rully Rouge shows a beautifully balanced Burgundy style—fresh, vibrant, and quietly structured.

Tasting profile:
• Aromas of ripe red berries, cherry, and plum, layered with subtle earthy notes and a hint of spice
• Medium-bodied with bright acidity and lively freshness, giving it that lifted, elegant feel
• Fine, slightly grippy tannins add structure without heaviness, leading to a clean, gently rustic finish
• Touches of pepper and soft florals bring complexity and classic Burgundian charm

Style:
Elegant, earthy Pinot Noir with a juicy core of red fruit—more about finesse than power, very drinkable but with enough structure to age a few years.

Food pairing:
• Roast chicken, turkey, or duck
• Mushroom dishes, lentils, earthy vegetarian plates
• Charcuterie & soft cheeses (Brie, Reblochon)
• Light pork dishes or grilled salmon

Domaine Tollot Beaut Aloxe Corton 1er Cru Les Vercots 2021 750ml

Winemaker Description

Tollot-Beaut’s Les Vercots 1er Cru is rustic and robust with aromas and flavors of red cherries, spice, and earth with substantial weight and ripe tannins. It is aged for 18 months in 50% new Burgundian pièce.

Red Burgundy might be the world’s most flexible food wine. The wine’s high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and minimal tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami. Winemaker Description.

Expert Review

92 Points Jasper Morris | 11 barrels for one hectare equates to about 25 hl/ha. Because Vercots has a heavy soil they put some extra fine pinot clones in this vineyard, which has paid off in the quality of the fruit. Slightly paler in colour but with some finesse. A savoury sandalwood touch to the oak this time, but the vineyard tannins are not fierce. Made with an agreeably light touch. Drink from 2025-2030.

Domaine Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux Monopole 2020 750ml

Expert Reviews

Burghound 91 Points Discreet but not invisible wood influence can be found on the ripe aromas of various dark berries prominent earth and violet scents. Somewhat surprisingly in the context of the reported yields the mid-palate is not especially dense though I very much like the beguiling texture that is at once caressing yet powerful before culminating in a precise serious and equally austere if notably longer finale. This is an opulent and refined Clos des Epeneaux. (Drink starting 2030)Vinous

92 Points Vinous | The 2020 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 1er Cru was a blend of two instead of four cuvées this year due to the depleted production. It has a precocious bouquet with black cherries raspberry menthol and blood orange scents that gather momentum in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins taut and fresh lightly spiced with hints of allspice and tangy quince. It displays fine composure towards the finish with impressive length. This is a superb Clos des Epeneaux though will it surpass the 2019? I?m not sure. (Drink between 2026-2050)

Quick Expert Summary - Vintage 2022

🍇 Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) 92 Points Described the fruit as having a refined character and complexity, with a savory red berry note, plenty of energy, and good acidity.

🍷 Vinous (Neal Martin) 91 Points Noted a well-defined bouquet with black cherries and wild strawberry fruit; the palate is medium-bodied, smooth and sensual toward the finish.

📜 Burghound (Allen Meadows) 90 PointsPraised the attractively spicy nose and the "slightly better verve" on the palate, which finishes with fine-grained tannins.

✨ Wine Spectator (Bruce Sanderson) 90 Points Found it to be a tangy red with spicy cherry, pomegranate, and blood orange flavors, calling it nicely integrated and juicy.

Expert Review - Vintage 2022

Allen Meadows writes:  An attractively spicy nose freely offers up aromas of dark pinot fruit, Savigny-style earth, violet and an interesting hint of white pepper. There is slightly better verve suffusing the lightly stony middleweight flavors that also possess a caressing but punchy mouthfeel on the lingering finale that is noticeably finer thanks to the fine-grained tannins. This too could be approached young though at least a few years of cellaring should be beneficial.  - Burghound 90

Bruce Sanderson writes:  A tangy red, this features spicy cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and toasty oak flavors. Nicely integrated, with a whisper of dusty tannins lining the finish. This is juicy, with the fruit resonating on the aftertaste. Best from 2027 through 2040.   - Wine Spectator 90

Neal Martin writes:  The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with black cherries and wild strawberry fruit, pure and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe red fruit and light pastille notes, smooth and sensual towards the finish. Give this three or four years in bottle.  - Vinous 91

Bollinger Champagne La Grande Annee Millesime 2014 750ml

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2014

Vinous 98 Points | Bollinger’s 2014 La Grande Année is a great way to start the evening as guests mill around Wheeler Farms. It is early evening in Napa, but there is still plenty of action in the winery, where various lots are being pressed under the watchful eye of winemaker Nigel Kinsman. There are some moments where I would very much like to be a civilian, a regular person enjoying the night, but I am more concerned with our guests having a great night, so I quickly go back to check on our wines. The Bollinger 2014 is everything I expected; bright, focused and full of all the energy this late-ripening vintage conferred to the best wines.

Wine Enthusiast 97 Points | With the hallmark Bollinger richness that is derived from fermentation in wood and a high percentage of Pinot Noir in the blend, this grand wine is ripe, full of apple and spice flavors. It is drinkable now, but still young.

Wine Spectator 97 Points |  Racy acidity drives this mouthwatering Champagne, enlivening the rich panoply of flavors. Features a fine and creamy mousse that's still a lively springboard for aromas and flavors of crème de cassis, glazed tangerine, roasted hazelnut, ground coffee, pickled ginger and white blossoms. Long and satiny, with minerally salt and chalk notes gaining momentum on the lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged July 2021.

Decanter 96 Points | Grande Année manages to be both deeply resonant and surprisingly subtle in 2014 – a delicious conundrum. Beneath fragrant blackberry and roasted plum fruit sits the richness of chestnut honey, rye bread and cocoa. There’s zesty brightness and roasted orchard fruit, perfectly integrated and composed, shaped with precision and energy. One of the top 2014s. Six and a half years on lees.

Producer Description

La Grande Année: The Great Year. This Champagne is the embodiment of everything that makes Bollinger the producer that stands apart in Champagne. La Grande Année symbolizes the word “hand-crafted” so strongly that an overused word suddenly becomes the appropriate definition.

La Grande Année is only produced in the most outstanding of vintages, where ripeness and acidity reach a perfect balance and aging potential is excellent.
