The Yarden Sauvignon Blanc is produced exclusively from the Sauvignon Blanc grapes by the Golan Heights Winery in northern Israel. Aged in French oak barrels for 2 months adds a light toastiness to the already complex fruit and herbaceous characters typical of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal. Otto's Constant Dream Sauvignon Blanc is estate grown by Hunter's Estate and sustainably farmed from vines planted in the 1980s and 1990s. Fruit comes from two corners of Marlborough: Rapaura, where free-draining soils produce very pretty wines, and Omaka, where higher clay content gives more power on the palate.

Every block is fermented separately, mostly in stainless steel with a very small percentage in French oak for a layer of texture. Skin contact is avoided, and the wine rests on lees for about 6 weeks before being lightly fined and filtered.

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough 2025

Dog Point Vineyard is the project of two Cloudy Bay veterans, Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, who set out to make a Sauvignon Blanc that transcends the region’s exuberant mainstream. Hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts from organically grown grapes, Dog Point’s approach is one of restraint and terroir transparency. The 2025 earned 94 points from both James Suckling and Wine Advocate, and 93 from Wine Spectator — a wine of genuine character, savory, textural, and built to age.

The nose is complex and restrained: grapefruit, brine, green olives, limes, and a touch of salinity. On the palate, it is linear and vibrant — textural and salty, with honeysuckle, lemon oil, yuzu, pomelo, and lemongrass lingering effortlessly on a sleek, mouthwatering frame. In 1968, Miljenko “Mike” Grgich went to work for Robert Mondavi as chief enologist, crafting the inaugural release of “Fumé Blanc” — an elegant, dry, oak-aged style of Sauvignon Blanc that Mondavi named after the French word for smoke. A decade later, Mike's 1973 Chardonnay famously won the Judgment of Paris, putting California wine on the world map. He went on to found Grgich Hills Estate in 1977, where he continued to champion the Fumé Blanc style as a tribute to his mentor and friend. Today, the estate farms all five of its Napa Valley vineyards organically and biodynamically.

Shaw + Smith is one of Australia’s most celebrated boutique estates, founded in 1989 by Master of Wine Martin Shaw and winemaker Michael Hill Smith MW in the cool-climate Adelaide Hills. Their Sauvignon Blanc has become a benchmark for the variety in Australia — hand-harvested during a precise window of perfect ripeness from carefully selected sites, it delivers a level of quality and consistency that is, as the critics note, seemingly unnerving for the price point.

The 2024 is zesty, fresh, and vibrant — passionfruit, just-ripe pineapple, lychee, orange blossom, and cut grass on the nose, with pink grapefruit, green apple skin, and lemon peel on the palate. Tightly coiled and precise, with a generous mouthfeel, lively acidity, and a finish with a light chalky pucker and a distinctive salsa verde character. Sattlerhof Sauvignon Blanc Organic Austria 2021 750ml

Sattlerhof is one of Südsteiermark’s most dedicated family estates — rooted in Gamlitz, at the southern tip of Styria where the warm Adriatic climate from the south collides with the cool continental air from the Alps to create one of Austria’s most dramatic wine-growing environments. Some 120,000 vines thrust their roots deep into the meagre crystalline quartz and coral-reef subsoils of the Kranachberg slope, farmed organically and biodynamically with painstaking hand-labor: soft pruning, manual shoot removal, leaf thinning, and hand-harvesting. The result is wines of rare precision, mineral intensity, and a deep sense of place.

The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Spätfüllung (late bottling) is aged on the lees until February 2023, giving it exceptional depth and texture for the appellation. Aged on the lees until February 2023, the 2021 Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc Spätfüllung is clear and intense on the pure and mineral/flinty and even iodine-scented nose. Lush and intense on the palate, this is a serious, very precise, fresh and elegant, stimulating, saline and grippy Sauvignon with intense and juicy fruit. It’s still young but very promising.

Fine grapefruit, nectarine and pineapple aromas with just a touch of yellow paprika. Medium-bodied with a striking balance of good ripeness and ample tannins that will need a bit of time to fully integrate. Quite a firm and dry finish, although the acidity is moderate for this grape.

An expressive, grassy white powered by a zesty mineral energy that invigorates green apple and white peach flavors. Medium length, with green herbs, smoke and crushed flint echoing through the finish. Bone-dry, with nice concentration.
