Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough, New Zealand 2025

Oyster Bay is the wine that put Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc on the world map — the original expression that won Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World and introduced a generation of wine lovers to the electric, aromatic style that only New Zealand's most famous wine region can produce. Sourced from Marlborough's sun-drenched Wairau and Awatere Valleys, where warm days and cool nights create an extended growing season, the grapes develop intense varietal character while maintaining the crisp, natural acidity that is Oyster Bay's signature. Uniquely Marlborough. Undeniably Oyster Bay.

The nose is stunningly aromatic: tropical fruits — passionfruit, guava, and white peach — leap from the glass alongside bright citrus notes of grapefruit and lime zest. On the palate, it is brilliantly clear and refreshingly zesty, with extraordinary aromatic intensity, a lively, mouthwatering acidity, and a clean, lingering finish. Elegant, crisp, and always refreshing — this is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its most iconic.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand 2025 750ml

Cloudy Bay · Sauvignon Blanc · Marlborough · 2025

In 1985, Cloudy Bay planted vines in Marlborough and changed the world’s understanding of what Sauvignon Blanc could be. Before Cloudy Bay, New Zealand was a footnote in the global wine conversation. After it, Marlborough became a benchmark — a name synonymous with cool-climate precision, electric aromatics, and a style of white wine that no other region on earth replicates quite the same way. Four decades on, the estate remains the standard-bearer: sourcing from across Marlborough’s diverse sub-regions, blending with meticulous care, and bottling under screwcap to preserve every last molecule of freshness. WN:93. At $28.89, this is the iconic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc — and one of the best values at this level of pedigree.

The 2025 is open and expressive from the first pour: peach, elderflower, makrut lime, and gooseberry on the nose, with a herbal lift and sea salt minerality that is unmistakably Marlborough. On the palate: bright lemon, white nectarine, and passionfruit, framed by refreshing acidity and a clean, steel-cut citrus finish with real precision and length. Drink now through 2027.

“Highly aromatic, with elderflower, citrus, and passionfruit. Crisp, textural, and elegant — a benchmark expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.”
— Wineanorak, 93 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"Concentrated and fragrant, with lemongrass, lemon verbena and celery salt notes to complement the pineapple, mango and lemon curd flavors, backed by a touch of orange sherbet. Gains momentum on the long, expressive finish." - The Wine Spectator, 93 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is fleshy and intense, as is the style of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, and there is enough savory extract and shape in the wine to elevate it beyond the norm. Here, we have grass clippings and brine, green olive tapenade, passion fruit and pineapple husk. The acidity is saline, and all elements work together toward a common goal. I recall, in context, this wine looking a little sweeter and fleshier than some of its regional peers, and yet here today in isolation, it looks tight, textural and composed. It's very good indeed. Cloudy Bay is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). 13% alcohol." - The Wine Advocate, 94 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"Vivid, round and juicy, with lemons, limes, fresh herbs and some mild spices on the nose, following through to a medium body with fresh acidity. Lively and succulent, with a delicious finish packed with limes. - James Suckling, 92 Points. (Vintage 2025).

Domaine du Salvard Cheverny Blanc 2025 750ml

Winemaker Description

While not untrue, calling Cheverny a value alternative to Sancerre would completely overlook the virtues unique to this appellation. It is a much zippier expression of Sauvignon Blanc compared to its famous neighbor, more citrusy than grassy. When Kermit introduced this wine in July 1993, he said, “Salvard makes the most drinkable, quaffable Sauvignon Blanc I have ever tasted.”

Thierry and Emmanuel Delaille of Domaine du Salvard specialize in crisp, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc, but for this cuvée, they add a splash of Chardonnay, which brings complexity, flesh, and notes of Meyer lemon and orchard fruit. The base of Sauvignon Blanc, meanwhile, provides freshness and liveliness as well as its characteristic flavors of passion fruit and lime zest. The two grape varieties combine for outstanding versatility, such that this bottle will serve you well alongside all kinds of seasonal spring fare.

Clos Henri Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2025 750ml

Clos Henri · Estate Sauvignon Blanc · Marlborough · New Zealand · 2025

Clos Henri is the Marlborough outpost of the legendary Bourgeois family of Sancerre — and it shows in every glass. Planted at high density on a single estate in the Central Wairau Valley, where Otiran and Waimaungan glacial soils converge into three distinct terroirs — Wither Clay, Broadbridge Clay, and Greywacke Stones — this is organic Sauvignon Blanc with a French soul and a New Zealand heartbeat. The 2025 Estate earned 94 points from James Suckling and 93 from Wine Advocate, cementing its place among Marlborough’s most sophisticated whites.

The 2025 vintage was shaped by a cool, slow ripening season — overcast skies and lower temperatures through February and March — that delivered exceptional density and focus. The wine bursts with bright citrus: mandarin, yuzu blossom, meyer lemon zest, and pineapple, layered over acacia, hay, and a flinty, graphite-driven minerality. The palate is textural and round, with firm acidity, chalky structure, and a bone-dry, lingering mineral finish. Restrained, classy, and built to reward patience.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2025

“Very elegant, superfloral and perfumed, with some flinty reduction, offering acacia blossoms, hay, fleshy lemons and a touch of elderberries. Medium-bodied with firm acidity giving structure and length. Attractive bitter-lemon note in the finish. Mineral and detailed with real focus. From organically grown grapes.”
— James Suckling · 94 Points

“The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc leads with graphite and cold tea, chalky tannins and dried grasses on the palate. The wine is far more subtle and restrained than many other Sauvignon Blancs tasted for this report, and this does fit with the assessment I hold for this producer over time. These are classy wines. This is a classy wine. Clos Henri is owned by the Bourgeois family of Sancerre (Domaine Henri Bourgeois), and it is clear that the sensibilities of their estate there are continued by their winemaker Damien Yvon here in Marlborough. This is an estate to put on your list. Clos Henri is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) group. 13.5% alcohol.”
— Wine Advocate · 93 Points

“Quite restrained with subtle aromas of earth, green olive, green pineapple and a hint of gorse flowers. The palate harbours density and depth under the shell of acidity and phenolics. Gravel, hessian and wet stone complexity rise alongside a touch of dried spice on the bone-dry finish. Accessible and expressive, this mid-weight sauvignon oozes with sophistication.”
— The Real Review · 93 Points · Stephen Wong

Domaine Gerard Boulay Sancerre Blanc CHAVIGNOL 2024 750ml

Winemaker Description

Gérard Boulay's "terre blanche" vineyards in Chavignol produce some of the most distinctive and soil-inflected Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire Valley — wines with a delineation and minerality. Boulay stands among the appellation's finest producers, alongside neighbors Cotat and Vatan.

Tasting Notes

Precise and mineral-driven, with the hallmark flinty character of Chavignol's limestone soils. Expect citrus, white stone fruit, and a long, saline finish with exceptional tension and length.

Food Pairings

The classic match is Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese — a pairing rooted in the same village. Also excellent with fresh oysters, grilled seafood, arugula salad, roasted peppers, and lemon chicken.

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2024 750ml

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough 2024

Dog Point Vineyard is the project of two Cloudy Bay veterans, Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, who set out to make a Sauvignon Blanc that transcends the region's exuberant mainstream. Hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, Dog Point's approach is one of restraint and terroir transparency. The result is a wine of genuine character: savory, textural, and built to age — a world apart from the wham-bam Marlborough style. The 2024 vintage is among the finest expressions of the estate.

The color is pale straw with a luminous clarity. The nose is pure and captivating: grapefruit, white peach, key lime, crushed sea shells, and a whisper of smoke and gravelly minerality that adds complexity beyond the immediate fruit. On the palate, juicy white-fleshed fruit pours across with refreshing, defined acidity — crisp, focused, and finishing clean and dry with a lightly grippy, saline texture. Drinks beautifully now or can comfortably be cellared for five years or more.

Wine Advocate 95 • James Suckling 93 • Wine Enthusiast 93 — "Powerfully fruited, great energy and drive — a very smart, savory wine." (Vintage 2024).

Clos des Lunes Lune d'Argent Bordeaux Blanc 2023 750ml

Clos des Lunes Lune d’Argent — Bordeaux Blanc 2023

Clos des Lunes is one of Bordeaux’s most compelling white wine stories — an estate in the heart of the Sauternes appellation that has dedicated itself entirely to producing world-class dry white wine from legendary sweet wine terroir. Lune d’Argent (“Silver Moon”) is the estate’s flagship cuvée, blending the density and richness of Sémillon with the refinement and precision of Sauvignon Blanc, aged with a touch of French oak to add complexity without obscuring the magic of the terroir.

The 2023 vintage was harvested in multiple passes from August 28 through September 21, allowing optimal ripeness across the blend. The result is a vibrant, medium-bodied white with vivid acidity, a chalky mineral finish, and outstanding depth — floral, orchard fruit, honeyed grapefruit, golden apple, and a lovely umami complexity from the Sémillon. Four critics, four outstanding scores.

Rain Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand 2025 750ml

Rain Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough, New Zealand 2025

Rain is a collaboration between Coldwell-Soper and T. Edward, based in Marlborough and dedicated exclusively to New Zealand's premier white grape. The 2025 vintage marks a milestone: winemaker Al Soper's 20th harvest of Rain — and he is one of the most highly awarded Sauvignon Blanc producers in all of Marlborough. Sourced exclusively from sustainably managed local vineyards, Rain is crafted with meticulous fruit selection and cold fermentation to preserve the full, vibrant spectrum of tropical and herbal character that defines the appellation.

The nose is exuberant and inviting: passionfruit, gooseberry, and fresh citrus zest leap from the glass. Extended lees contact adds depth, texture, and balance to the palate, while the finish is long, bright, and invigorating. This is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its most refreshing and true to form — a wine that delivers every time.

Domaine La Gemiere Menetou Salon La Pointe 2024 750ml

Domaine La Gemière · La Pointe · Ménetou-Salon · Loire Valley, France · 2024 · 750ml

The Millet family founded Domaine La Gemière in 1981 on the slopes of the Loire Valley, and since 2000 siblings Sébastien and Nicolas have carried the tradition forward with a profound respect for their 19-hectare estate. The “La Pointe” parcel sits on Ménetou-Salon’s famous Kimmeridgian limestone soils — the same ancient seabed geology that defines great Sancerre, just a few kilometers to the east. Ménetou-Salon is one of the Loire’s best-kept secrets: a small appellation producing Sauvignon Blanc of genuine mineral character and Sancerre-level quality at a fraction of the price. Grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, with juice flowing by gravity into tank, racked 48 hours later, and aged on lees for 8–9 months for added texture and complexity.

Pale gold with a green tinge in the glass, with a pronounced, aromatic nose of gooseberry, fresh grass, ripe quince, and a clean mineral lift from the Kimmeridgian limestone. On the palate: crisp and refreshing, with flavors of melon, citrus, and white stone fruit, carried by bright acidity and a clean, mineral finish that lingers. The lees aging adds just enough texture to give the wine real presence without sacrificing freshness. Drink now through 2026. Pair with Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese, oysters on the half shell, grilled white fish, shrimp ceviche, or asparagus quiche.

  • Producer: Domaine La Gemière · Millet Family (est. 1981)
  • Wine: La Pointe · Ménetou-Salon AOC
  • Vintage: 2024
  • Origin: Ménetou-Salon, Loire Valley, France
  • Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

  • Aging: 8–9 months on lees · Gravity-flow winemaking
  • Style: Crisp, mineral, aromatic Loire Sauvignon Blanc
  • Drinking Window: Now–2026
  • Size: 750ml
  • Tasting Notes: Gooseberry, fresh grass, quince, melon, citrus, white stone fruit, mineral finish
  • Pair With: Crottin de Chavignol · Oysters · Grilled white fish · Shrimp ceviche · Asparagus quiche

Indaba Sauvignon Blanc South Africa 2024 750ml

Indaba Sauvignon Blanc — Western Cape, South Africa 2024

Indaba — the Zulu and Xhosa word for a gathering of minds — was built on the belief that exceptional South African wine should be within everyone's reach. Sourced from family farmers working decomposed granite, calcareous clay, and ancient shale soils along the Western Cape's sunshine coast, Indaba Sauvignon Blanc is a consistently over-delivering value wine that has earned "Best Value" and "Best Buy" accolades year after year. Sustainably farmed, stainless steel fermented, and aged three months on lees for added texture.

The 2024 pours pale yellow with green reflections. The nose is vibrant and immediately inviting — guava, passion fruit, pineapple, lemon-lime, and green fig with a lift of citrus blossom. On the palate, it's fresh and zesty with racy acidity and a clean, mineral-tinged finish that lingers. Stylistically approachable and food-friendly, this is a crowd-pleaser in the best possible sense.

"Enticing citrus and tropical fruit aromas lead to fresh, zesty flavors of pineapple, lemon-lime, mango and green fig, supported by a spine of racy acidity. The mineral-tinged finish happily lingers." — Indaba Winemaker

Chateau La Rame Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2025 750ml

Our Professional Review

Rand Sieger, 67 Wine Buyer: A fresh, bright Bordeaux Blanc with aromas of citrus and white stone fruits backed by subtle herbs and bracing minerality. Incredible complexity for an amazing price!

About the Wine Château La Rame is among the oldest and most renowned properties in the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation, situated on a hill overlooking the Garonne River, 25 miles southeast of Bordeaux. While the estate is world-famous for its sweet wines, this "Sec" (dry) bottling is a sommelier favorite for its oyster-shell minerality and electric freshness.

95% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon from hillside clay-limestone soils blessed with an exceptional substratum — a bed of fossilized oysters dating from the Tertiary era. Vines average 25 years old. Manual harvest, fermented in temperature-controlled vats, and aged 6 months on fine lees.

Tasting & Pairings

Citrus, white stone fruit, subtle herbs, and bracing oyster-shell minerality. Crisp, vibrant, and electric with impressive complexity for the price.

  • Fresh oysters, mussels, or moules frites — the fossilized oyster terroir meets actual oysters. A perfect match.
  • Grilled white fish with lemon and sea salt — the classic Bordeaux Blanc pairing.
  • Goat cheese (chèvre) — the acidity and minerality cut through creamy cheese beautifully.

Mt. Beautiful Sauvignon Blanc North Canterbury 2023 750ml

Mt. Beautiful Sauvignon Blanc — North Canterbury, New Zealand 2023

Mt. Beautiful's White Label Sauvignon Blanc is one of New Zealand's most compelling values — a Wine Spectator 91-point “Smart Buy” that punches well above its price. Sourced from certified-sustainable, estate-grown vineyards in the wild and rugged North Canterbury region, this is a Sauvignon Blanc with genuine terroir character: distinctively New Zealand in its aromatics, yet restrained and elegant in a way that sets it apart from the crowd. The winery uses minimal inputs — motorbikes instead of tractors, hand harvesting, and lush ground cover hosting parasitic wasps that naturally control pests — letting the pure expression of place come through in every bottle.

The nose delivers an enticing medley of passionfruit, cut grass, tomato leaf, and blackcurrant, with honeysuckle, toasted green tea, and a savory accent of Himalayan sea salt. On the palate, dried apricot, tangerine, and ripe melon fill out a beautifully creamy mid-palate, while elegant acidity carries through to a long, persistent finish with a touch of vetiver.

Wine Spectator 91 “Smart Buy” — “Offers honeysuckle and toasted green tea, plus a savory accent of Himalayan sea salt, with dried apricot, tangerine and ripe melon details. A touch of vetiver lingers on the finish.”

Jean Marc et Romain Pastou Sancerre Vieilles Vignes 2025 750ml

Jean-Marc et Romain Pastou — Sancerre Vieilles Vignes 2025

Domaine Pastou is a family estate rooted in Sury-en-Vaux, a quiet village nestled in the rolling hills of the northern Sancerre appellation. Jean-Marc Pastou began making wine under his own name in the early 1980s, planting his first vines — now the oldest on the estate — in that same year. Today his son Romain carries the torch, farming 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc across some of Sancerre’s finest sites, including multiple parcels in the prized lieu dit of Les Boucaults.

The Vieilles Vignes cuvée draws on the estate’s oldest vines, delivering the deeper concentration, mineral complexity, and textural richness that only age can bring. This is mineral-driven Sancerre at its most authentic — precise, elegant, and a perennial favorite for the value it delivers at its price point.

  • Producer: Domaine Jean-Marc et Romain Pastou, Sury-en-Vaux, Sancerre, Loire Valley, France
  • Vintage: 2025
  • Appellation: Sancerre AOC
  • Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

  • Best Paired With: Oysters, grilled fish, goat cheese, asparagus, light seafood pasta
