Vibrant, textured and beautifully precise, Gérard Boulay’s La Côte showcases the distinctive mineral character of Chavignol. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown in the celebrated La Grande Côte vineyard, this single-vineyard Sancerre balances generous fruit with refreshing energy and an unmistakably saline finish.

First released with the 2010 vintage, La Côte comes from a prized hillside site whose limestone-rich Kimmeridgian soils help shape the wine’s character. Here, Boulay produces a Sauvignon Blanc with impressive depth, expressing the vineyard through its combination of richness, freshness and mineral definition.

The 2024 opens with citrus aromas of lime zest and grapefruit, accented by white flowers, chalk and wet stone. On the palate, a supple, rounded texture meets lively acidity, with citrus peel and subtle herbal nuances adding dimension. Concentrated yet graceful, it finishes long and fresh, leaving a lingering impression of salt and limestone.

The Boulay family has grown grapes in Chavignol since 1380, and Gérard has farmed organically since 1990. Hand harvesting and a restrained approach in the cellar preserve the individuality of each parcel. Fermentation with native yeasts and maturation that includes used oak bring texture and complexity while allowing La Côte’s distinctive vineyard character to shine.

Vinous 90 Points | The Sancerre La Cote presents pure and clear aromatics of elderflower and nectarine. The palate has an easy fluidity to it and a chalky texture that comes in waves. This hails from a southeast-facing vineyard with 25-to 30-year-old vines, making it a fairly young parcel for the Boulay family. Drink 2026-2032.

Winemaker Description 

The delicate and complex olfactory expression opens on aromas which remind of white flower, exotic fruits. There is a very beautiful complexity for a vintage where the end-of-season’s sun brought a lot to the aromas. Excellent complexity that translates into great and elegant richness. Nice attack, straight and bright, it takes place with elegance on fruity notes associated with a dense structure and a beautiful acidity which brings a great length in the end of the mouth. There are aromas of exotic fruits (litchi, mango).

Purchased by the Comte Lafond, an ancestor of the current owner, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, Château du Nozet and its surrounding vineyards have a reputation for producing the finest Pouilly-Fumé. The vineyards are in Pouilly-Fumé Contrôlée, which includes Pouilly-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain and Tracy-sur-Loire at the eastern end of the Loire Valley (including the vineyard of the Château du Nozet estate).

Vinous 93 Points | Done in a floral, finely aromatic style that’s both elegant and perfumed, the 2024 Monts Damnés is ripe, but there’s no shortage of acidity. It leaves a lip-smacking, bright finish as if someone’s just played a triangle, or the clouds have parted and the angels are singing a top note. Textbook chalky texture elevates this wine, making for a very classic style.

Materia Prima is a project from the Parés Baltà family — one of Penedès' most committed organic and biodynamic estates — dedicated to exploring the full expressive potential of their indigenous varieties through natural, minimal-intervention winemaking. This Orange Wine is produced entirely from biodynamically grown Xarel·lo and Sauvignon Blanc, vinified with extended skin contact in the traditional amber wine style. The result is a wine of genuine complexity and character: pale amber, slightly cloudy, and full of the kind of textural depth that only skin-contact winemaking can produce.

The 2024 pours a pale amber with a slight natural haze. The nose is aromatic and layered — citrus peel, tropical fruit, and compote with a subtle oxidative complexity from the skin contact. On the palate, it's surprisingly approachable — fine structure, pleasant density, and gentle tannins that give it grip without austerity. Winemaking and aging | The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 25 and 28 °C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in new and used barrels for 12 to 16 months.

Tasting note | Red wine of intense colour. Powerful ripe fruit aroma, notes of mineral and oak barrel. In the mouth, it presents friendly and tempting, with smooth, well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Created for the complexity and refinement of charming, focused white wines, this glass will make them sing as never before. Expert Reviews - Vintage 2014

The Wine Spectator 95+ | The Château Suduiraut 2014 may well be one of the best Sauternes of the vintage. This year, it is a blend of 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc with a healthy 145 grams per liter residual sugar and 4.5 grams per liter total acidity. It needed some coaxing on the nose so I afforded the sample five minutes of rigorous swirling. It was worth the effort as it reveals intense clear honey and mineral scents that possess exquisite definition, one of those aromatics that stop you in your tracks. The palate is clean and fresh with vibrant acidity, great depth and power as it fans out in glorious fashion on the bravura finish. The phrase “It will knock your socks off” comes to mind, so wear a couple of pairs.

The Wine Enthusiast 96 Points | Intense and ripe, this is a superb wine from a top Sauternes estate. It has all the expected elements, including concentrated botrytis and honeyed flavors. Seville orange and lemon notes provide contrast, as does its acidity, which is just as intense as the honey character. It will age well, so drink from 2025.

Decanter 94 Points | Marmalade botrytis and smoke mix with ripe peach and honeyed pineapple. Complex and rich, with mouthcoating flavours of ripe peach, mango, honeycomb and tapioca. A rare unctuous quality for Suduiraut in 2014.

James Suckling 94 Points | Candied citrus and pineapple drizzled with acacia honey is how this smells and tastes, and the wine is rich and creamy with excellent concentration. Powerful and flavorful finish. Drink or hold. 

The Wine Advocate 93 Points | Despite a challenging year, half of the crop was lost due to an invasion of Drosophila suzukii, the 2014 Suduiraut is showing very well today, evoking aromas of pineapple, baked white fruits, ripe orchard fruits, lemon and spices. Moderately weighted, layered and round, it’s perfectly balanced with an elegant, fresh mid-palate that is long and ethereal on the finish. This blend of 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc.

Decanter Magazine by Simon Field MW writes 93 Points |  Made up, half and half, of base wine from the sunny 2018 harvest, and reserve wine from Rodolphe’s Perpetual Reserve which goes back to 1988, this is one of the most consistently excellent NV wines on the market. Its current iteration is especially impressive, floral, chalky, upstanding, and very complex; the palate sharing notes of dried apricot, plum and lemon pith with more developed intimations of sour honey and patisserie. An exemplary wine with real purity and precision on the finish. 

The Wine Spectator by Alison Napjus writes 91 Points | Sleek and mouthwatering, with a fine, satiny mousse and a fresh panoply of crunchy pear, grapefruit sorbet, pickled ginger and spring blossom notes. Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy's most respected négociant-éleveurs, founded in 1984 in Puligny-Montrachet by a member of the legendary Leflaive family — one of the most storied names in white Burgundy. Grooner is a collaboration between importer Monika Caha & Toni Silver of Monika Caha Selections and Meinhard Forstreiter of Weingut Forstreiter — one of Austria's most respected family estates. The Forstreiter family has been making wine in Krems-Hollenburg in the Kremstal since 1868, farming 69 acres of vineyards along the banks of the Danube River, directly across from the Wachau. The estate was named Top 100 Wineries of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine, and Meinhard Forstreiter has brought the property to a new level of quality through a combination of advanced modern technology and sound, sustainable viticulture.

The Grooner Grüner Veltliner is sourced from Forstreiter's vineyards on south- and east-facing terraces above the Danube, planted on the distinctive Hollenburger Konglomerat — a unique soil formation of compressed Ice Age gravel from the Danube riverbanks, layered with loess, clay, and sandy soils.
