Montenidoli is not just a winery — it is a mountain, a philosophy, and one of the most singular estates in all of Tuscany. Perched above the medieval towers of San Gimignano, this certified organic estate has been farming its ancient Vernaccia vines with radical integrity for decades. The benchmark of French dry vermouth — Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry Dry has been crafted in the Alpine town of Chambéry since 1821, earning its place as the go-to vermouth for discerning bartenders and home mixologists worldwide. The Producer

Founded in 1821, Dolin is one of the oldest and most respected vermouth houses in France, and the only producer still based in Chambéry — the historic heartland of French vermouth. Their Dry expression is made from a delicate white wine base infused with more than 30 Alpine herbs and botanicals, selected and blended using traditional methods that have remained largely unchanged for two centuries. Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc — Wairau Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand 2025

Greywacke is the personal project of Kevin Judd — the winemaker who spent two decades building Cloudy Bay into one of the world's most recognized Sauvignon Blanc brands before striking out on his own. Named after the hard, dark stone that forms the riverbeds of Marlborough, Greywacke is a small-production estate focused on wines of genuine depth and site specificity. The Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc is their benchmark expression: harvested largely by machine during cool, often cold night-time conditions, picked earlier than normal over a three-week period commencing 16 March, transported directly to the winery in the Omaka Valley, lightly pressed for high-quality juice, and left on lees on individual vineyard batches until late June before blending. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with the volume turned down a notch — and all the better for it.

The 2025 pours a pale, luminous gold. The nose is vibrant and aromatic — lemon blossom, honeydew melon, orange blossom, passion fruit, white pineapple, kumquat, and lime sherbet, delicately infused with herb garden botanicals and a flourish of elderflower and wildflowers. On the palate, sleek and smooth with mid-palate richness, juicy lemon, steely cassis, beeswax, brine, and a generously textured finish with impressive structure and depth. Our Professional Review — Oscar Garcia Moncada

In September 2022, I had the pleasure of traveling to Rioja, Spain, to visit one of my favorite producers: Bodegas Perica. Located in the picturesque village of San Asensio in La Rioja Alta, Bodegas Perica has been a bastion of winemaking tradition for three generations. The winery was in the midst of harvest, and I was fortunate enough to participate—gaining firsthand insight into the rigorous grape selection process that defines Bodegas Perica’s approach.

Anyone who has experienced a wine harvest understands the backbreaking labor involved in hand-harvesting: long hours, quick reflexes, and relentless speed. Yet despite the physical demands, the reward is undeniable—gathering at the end of the day to share a hearty meal and plenty of wine with a community united by purpose and passion.

David García Ábalos, the current owner of Bodegas Perica, and Zigor Cornago García, Director of Commerce, graciously gave me a personal tour of the winery, cellar, and production facilities. Perica stands out for using only estate-grown grapes from its own vineyards—a true commitment to quality and terroir. The winery also ages its Crianzas in 225-liter French oak barrels, and notably, many of its wines undergo extended aging beyond the minimum requirements set by the Rioja DOCa.

Founded in 1912 by Don Juan García, Bodegas Perica now cultivates over 150 hectares of vineyards in the prestigious Rioja Alta subregion, known for producing some of the finest expressions of Tempranillo.

This visit was especially meaningful to me, as it culminated in a tasting straight from the barrel to select the next wine for a private label project with 67Wine. After exploring a range of vintages and barrels, I ultimately chose the 2020 vintage. For me, it hit all the right notes—vibrant fruit, layered aromas, balanced structure, integrated tannins, and just the right touch of acidity. This wine is layered with nuances of tobacco, perfectly matured red fruit, and a touch of vanilla.

This superb Crianza, aged for up to 16 months in barrel followed by further aging in bottle, overdelivers in both quality and value. It drinks more like a Reserva—a testament to the exceptional fruit quality grown in Viña Olagosa in La Rioja Alta and to the meticulous work of the Bodegas Perica winemaking team.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Enticing aromas of red and black fruit — strawberries, raspberries, black cherry, and blackberry — with subtle hints of tobacco, cedar, and vanilla.

Palate: Medium-bodied with great balance. Acidity, tannins, and alcohol are all in harmony. Black cherry, strawberries, and raspberries intermingle with notes of tobacco, dried mushrooms, and a touch of eucalyptus.

Domaines Ott is the founding dynasty of Provence rosé — a family that has shaped the identity of the appellation for 130 years, since Marcel Ott established the estate in the late 19th century. From Château de Selle to Clos Mireille to Château Romassan, the Ott family has patiently crafted a singular vision of rosé rooted in three terroirs, two appellations, and an uncompromising pursuit of authenticity. BY OTT is their entry into the Côtes de Provence AOC — grown organically from estate vineyards and carefully selected partner growers nestled between land and sea. The 2025 blend is 60% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 7% Mourvèdre, 4% Syrah, and 4% Rolle — each variety playing a precise role: Grenache for texture and generous fruitiness, Cinsault for freshness, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Rolle for depth and length. The color is a beautiful pastel pink with soft rosewood tints — luminous and distinctly Provençal. La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva — Rioja Alta 2019

Viña Ardanza is the crown jewel of La Rioja Alta — and the 2019 vintage may be its finest expression in a generation. A blend of 80% old-vine Tempranillo from Fuenmayor and Cenicero in Rioja Alta and 20% Garnacha from Tudelilla in Rioja Oriental, the wine is aged 36 months in American oak for the Tempranillo and 30 months for the Garnacha — all from La Rioja Alta’s own cooperage. No 2018 was produced; 2019 marks a pivotal change in Ardanza: more fresh fruit from the Garnacha, less spice, and a modern intensity that recalls the legendary 2015. Jeb Dunnuck awarded it 96 points. Wine Advocate and Decanter each gave it 94. At under $40, it is one of the most compelling values in all of classic Rioja.

Intense cherry red with garnet at the rim. The nose is of great aromatic power: ripe cherry, currant, red plum, then balsamic and spicy notes of pepper, licorice, clove, vanilla, toasted caramel, and nutmeg. On the palate, it is fresh and beautifully balanced, with fine, silky, melty tannins and an ample, long finish that weaves red fruit and spice with remarkable elegance. Still young and undeveloped — it will reward another decade in the cellar.

A liter of the raciest, most energetic and appealingly mineralische Riesling imaginable. Deidesheimer Herrgottsacker is a single vineyard site with a size of 121 hectares. 10% of the vineyard site is steep, 20% hilly and 70% are flat. The soil varies between sandy loam and loamy sand, mixed with limestone rocks and red sandstone. Lincoln Henderson spent decades as one of American whiskey's great architects — the mind behind some of the most iconic bourbons ever bottled. When he and his son Wes set out to build something of their own, they didn't just want to make a great bourbon. They wanted to finish it. Angel's Envy was a creative pioneer in what is now a widespread practice: taking a well-aged Kentucky straight bourbon and resting it in secondary casks to add a final layer of complexity. Here, the vehicle is 60-gallon French oak ruby Port wine barrels imported from Portugal, and the results are quietly extraordinary.

The bourbon is aged 4–6 years in American white oak using Kentucky-grown corn and rye, distilled with limestone-filtered water, then finished an additional 3–6 months in hand-selected Port casks. The color is a warm, luminous copper. The nose offers vanilla, ripe berries, and a whisper of dried fruit. On the palate it is smooth and luxurious — dark cherry, orange peel, roasted nuts, and a gentle Port sweetness that never tips into cloying. The finish is long, juicy, and gently warming.
